“Very nice cabins by the lake”
Reviewed March 30, 2013 via mobile

My parents & in laws stayed there while we camped. Very clean & in good shape. They have an excellent playground right there & a fishing pier for the lake. The only thing we didn't like was the 4:00 check in. Wished it was earlier.

We went down and stayed in the new lake side chalets. We all work at a state park so we decided to take a break. It had a screen in porch on both sides. We where in the lake side chalet with a play ground just about 20yds up the parking lot.Very nice and clean. The rooms where beautiful someone had really taken the time to clean them.So dust no cobwebs. And we are the picky type of women, but the place was great. In the morning it's so quite you can't believe when you look across and see such a busy place. But I don't know if it was the light breeze from the lake are the distance but it was so peaceful. Now we when and found out that it was Hang Out Weekend. We could watch the light and hear some music and the light show from one of the porches. But it was not like it was right up close and was far enough away that you didn't hear all the people rushing around. The next morning I got up early and when out on the deck and there was a dock just below us.And there was a baby gator.Just chilling swimming in front of us for pictures. But you not allowed to feed them. And one of the others did Go-cashing,you can drive to the beach about 5mile and never get in heavy traffic. If you go down get number 13.It's at the end of the road and so made for relaxing.Their is a BBQ pit and picnic table under the chalet and the cabins. And for the price it's the cheapest for a great family place in town. And they have a pool and pier. And if your staying there it's free just take your window sticker they give you.The chalets are the way to go because the cabins are small. But we all wanted our own rooms and had family friends over It was well worth the trip and the money. For some time to relaxes. Now they have cabins that are cheaper but their are a little to close for comfort for me.These has lots of space and is a great place for a family to stay. The only thing I didn't like is the park is so spaced out.But you can drive down the rode and eat at any type of food you want are cook it their. The kitchen and all the area in the chalet was very clean and well taken care of.So go and have a great time...It is worth every penny...

Room Tip: Chalet number 13 is the best.At the end and is quiet and has private dock.Close to a GO cashing spot...

We are campground veterans....we
travel by motorhome frequently. Can sincerely say that this is one of the nicest campgrounds we have ever stayed with.
Everything is spotless clean (laundry, pool, store, sites, etc).
Just up the road from a wonderful white-sand beach, nestled close to 2 lakes and a canal, the campsites offer super views, and plenty of room on the sites to feel unencumbered.
We give the facility our highest recommendation, and would not hesitate to return.

We stayed in the lakeside cabins. It was awesome. Very close to the beach pavillion. It is also close to several good restaurants. The cabin was very spacious and clean. There was a very nice screened in porch and you could walk to a little fishing pier on the lake.

My family and I spent three nights in one of the park's 2 bedroom lakeside cabins. The cabin was nothing fancy but it provided plenty of room for our family of 5. The bedrooms were not huge but had a double bed, dresser, and closet space. Bed linens/pillows/towels/washclothes are furnished. The kitchen included pots/pans/dishes/silverware. It is advisable to bring bath soap and shampoo if you will be staying more than a day. Also, you would need to provide your own dishwashing soap and paper towels. There is a small eating area in the kitchen (table/4 chairs) and a bar area with two barstools. Coffee pot and microwave are also included (no dishwasher). The living area had a sofa and one chair. The unit had TV with Direct TV service. Our favorite area of the cabin was the screened in porch that had a great view of the lake and fishing pier. I would recommend that you bring a fan to be used on the screened porch. The porch does not have a ceiling fan so it can be quite hot during the day. The park offers hiking trails, informative nature programs, a swimming pool and is a short drive (about 5 minutes) to direct beach access. If you just have to have a beach view, this place is not for you. The nightly rate for this two bedroom cabin was signifcantly less that a single hotel room on the beach. For the family friendly accomodations in a quiet park setting and for the price versus the beachfront hotel, I would recommend checking it out. The Alabama State Park system has a website that provides costs, amenities, and pictures.

Has gotten terrible over the last 2 years, No one answers the phone, campground is always totally full or reserved even when there are a large number of sites open daily and Water or Lake sites are terribly overgrown to the point of not even being able to see the Lake on a Lake site. But they charge you more to stay on that site.I think I will just stick with Wind Creek or Oak MountainState Parks. A little more of a drive but worth it.

Nice campground. Absolutely no shade trees. Sites are very close together. I don't recommend anyone staying on 85-95 on bobcat trail because you will be camping next to the trash dumpsters and I don't recommend anyone paying the extra fee to stay right on the lake. The edges of the lake have overground bushes and catails wish makes viewing or fishing impossible. Now the good parts. The campground is staffed 24/7. They have a nice store for last minute items. And they have the nices state owned swimming pool I've ever seen. I can't say enough good things about the pool it was the highlight of the campground. And of course the beach is only a short drive away. Overall a nice place to stay but expensive camping fees. With fuel cost and camping fees we could have stayed in a condo cheaper
