“Our family gathered and enjoyed God's blessings”
Reviewed March 27, 2017 for a stay in March 2017

We just returned from an absolutely perfect week in Gulf Shores, Alabama with our family.

We rented a beautiful beachfront home with a private swimming pool that was arranged perfectly to accommodate our family and afford us the space to share perfect family time.

There were four master bedrooms - each with covered balconies to enjoy an ocean view. Double bunk-bed rooms - one for the girls and one for the boys and an area on the second floor with perfect furnishings to sit and play games or plenty of floor space to enjoy being together. Not to mention each of the six bedrooms has its own bathroom plus there was an extra just in case!

The house provided 2 refrigerators, 2 dishwashers, an ice maker, a washer and dryer plus all the utensils, appliances and kitchen equipment necessary to accommodate up to 19 people.

To make it perfect, the owners - the Crews Family welcomed us with a copy of "Jesus Calling" book in each bedroom plus shelves with many others books throughout the house and others. There was a selection of DVD movies to watch on the TV and DVD in each bedroom.

If you are looking for a place to share with your family for the best time together, please consider contacting Greg and Haley in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

“crews quarters vacation”
Reviewed January 25, 2017 for a stay in August 2016

Our family recently enjoyed our vacation at Crews Quarters. Weather was perfect, and all the bedrooms brought the breathtaking gulf front views inside the home! We loved how all the bedrooms had direct gulf front views. Open floor plan in den and kitchen plus oversized dining table allowed our family to always feel "together", even during meals, but the floor plan also allowed us to all spread out when desired. The adults chatted over coffee and breakfast on the large deck space, and we enjoyed the views of the gulf from the private balconies on the upstairs master bedrooms. The kids had a BLAST, with the home located directly on the beach and the wonderful pool in back deck. We enjoyed sitting on rafts laying in the pool, while listening to the waves roll in. This trip was truly a treat for all, we hope to return in the following years!

PS. The 2 refrigerators, 2 dishwashers and under counter ice maker were also a nice plus!!

“Nice location-property maintenance needed”
Reviewed January 3, 2017 for a stay in December 2016

The location and weather were perfection! However, the beach house could use some attention. Upon arriving, we were informed that the internet was not working and would be repaired. When no one showed for the repairs, I sent an email immediately. Internet access was critical for our group even beyond the Christmas gifts purchased for the children that required wifi for setup. I was floored by the response I received! We were told the internet "just went down" and it was out of their control. We asked for a temporary mifi to use during our stay but the reply informed us that we were free to use our iPhone hotspots if we wanted to. We were advised to check the rental contract and note that the internet is an amenity they provided to the guest in addition to the house but we are only renting the house!! So does this mean all the amenities listed may or may not be avaialable for use? Apparently the answer is yes! The next day we noticed the pool was filthy and not working. I sent another email and again the reply was unbelievable. He continued to insist the pool was clean and working even though we were looking at trash and debris at the bottom and floating. After I emailed photos of large nails (yes nails!!!) in the bottom of the pool I received a response that the pool "just broke the day before we arrived". The advice we received: it would be too cold to use anyway but if you want to just get someone to dive down and remove the nails!!! After discovering protruding deck nails as well, we had to take precautions when going onto the deck. It became obvious that we were communicating with a completely unreasonable and irresponsible person so we didn't even bother to make contact about the mold, chip toilet seats and any other issues. The view was amazing but there are many rentals on this strip, I would suggest taking your chances with any other property but this one.

Management Response

We certainly value all guest feedback and aim to address any and all issues. Firstly, regarding the Wi-Fi, we promptly explained to the guest that the CenturyLink box we have (located outside) unfortunately went out shortly before Christmas Eve, and the first available tech they had in the area was pushed back until December 27th due to the Christmas holiday. We felt terrible that the Wi-Fi went down, and spent hours of our time making countless calls to CenturyLink.
To no avail with CenturyLink, we even agreed to compensate the guests for their data usage if they chose to use their personal cell phones as hot spots in order to connect to the Internet via tethering. This is the first time we've had an issue with Wi-Fi at this home, and this was something that was simply out of our control. We have since switched Wi-Fi providers to Media Comm, so we now get internet through our cable company.

In reference to the pool, we had replaced some deck boards around the pool shortly before the guest arrived, which is why a small deck screw had fallen into the pool.
The nightly temperature was in the 30s several days before the guests arrived, so our pool company decided to shut the pool pump down because of the extremely cold temperature. The guest asked me on Christmas Eve to get a pool guy to come down and remove the screw laying in the bottom of the pool with a net, and I informed her that the pool technician was not working that day and asked if they could simply pick it up and throw it away if they're able to brave the cold water. My pool tech came to the house and balanced all chemicals in the pool the day before the guests arrived, so the pool water was crystal clean. We did, however, have the pump turned off due to a gasket on filter that needed to be repaired, and the pool company knew no one could safely swim in the water this time of year as cold as it was anyway, but water was still crystal clean and chemicals were balanced, so they could have still gotten in the pool if they had wetsuits, otherwise the pool water would have been much to cold to safely swim in.

Regarding the "chip" in the toilet seat that the guest complained about, it was a piece of paint the size of a pencil eraser that was rubbed off the new wood toilet seat, where the toilet seat had slammed. We aim to please all guests, so we have replaced all the wood toilet seats with a new ones.

There was absolutely no mold in the shower. A 12 inch bead of caulk was a little dark, so we are having our handyman cut the caulk out and re-caulk the edge of the shower where the glass meets the wall.

This group failed to mention the fact that other than not graciously accepting our ($150) compensation for the lack of Wi-Fi , to cover their data usage of their I-phones (again, first time the Wi-Fi has ever been out at this home), they demanded more compensation from the beginning of their stay. They also proceeded to completely stain and ruin 2 sets of king linens at our home, that had to be thrown away.
Rather than calling us back to discuss their concerns after we tried many times to call them, all we received were negative emails demanding compensation.

We have always received positive feedback regarding this home, and this was the first time we have ever received a review consisting of such negativity.

This was actually the 31st lease we've had at this property this year, and we've had nothing but positive feedback. If a guest ever experiences an issue at one of our properties, we will do everything we can to address it, in this particular case, there was simply nothing we could do regarding the Wi-Fi going out over the Christmas holiday.

Crews Quarters is a fabulous home our entire extended family enjoyed visiting!! The views from the den and all bedrooms are second to none, and we loved the layout and privacy this home offers. Everything was well thought out and we enjoyed having two refrigerators and two dishwashers. We made some great memories at this home and hope to come back soon. The home was well maintained and clean upon arrival.

My family stayed at Crews Quarters in Gulf Shores this past summer. We loved the home, and did not want to leave. It was clean upon arrival. We spent the week enjoying the private pool and the view of the beach. Great location of the home, and there was plenty of space for the whole family to be more than comfortable. The pool is looking over the beautiful gulf, and there are nice private balconies off the master bedrooms. Greg was very quick to respond to any questions we had regarding our stay. Enjoyed our trip!!

“Wonderful home and wonderful memories!”

I went to Gulf Shores to have a beach wedding. This property was absolutely perfect! Between my fiancée and I we had 19 family members that needed accommodations. This home fit all of us with some minor rearranging (all the boys slept in the living room on the couch and pull out ottomans).

The home is spacious and had plenty of bathrooms so that all of us could be getting ready for the wedding. The kitchen is stocked with all of the basic cookware and utensils. We went to a local grocery store and loaded up on food that we wanted to prepare. We did end up buying additional toilet paper and paper towels since there was only 1 roll in each bathroom and no spares to be found. But if that is our biggest complaint then I would say that is pretty good!

The home has a private beach where our wedding was held. The wedding coordinators didn't have any problems getting access to the beach.

Every bedroom has a view of the gulf. The furniture is in overall good shape with expected wear and tear. The beds are very comfortable and there is plenty of seating in the living room and dining room for everyone to gather around the television.

There is a swimming pool on the back deck. We were there in December so the water was too cold for me. The ocean is also rather chilly that time of year so swimming wasn't on the itinerary.

I would highly recommend Crew's Quarters if you are looking to accommodate a large group. We had a blast and can't wait to come back!
