After finding this restaurant thru Tripadvisor reviews we decided to try it. Went for lunch on a chilly day. Small cozy locals place. The bartender that turned out to also be the owner was very talkative, funny and was able to give us a lot of info about the area. We had the roast beef and conecuh sausage po boys and a side of home made chips. Both sandwiches tasted amazing and well worth the price. The chips were thin, light and crispy and not overly salted. I had a bushwacker and there was no watering down of drinks here. She'd even warned me that there was a shot of 151 floated on the top. The taste was decadent. Best dessert imaginable. This is definitely gonna be a stop everytime we're here. The sausage is made locally and she even told us where she gets her seafood which is also a local place. We love supporting the local area which has had a rough few years and is finally starting a comeback.

“A Hidden Jewel in Gulf Shores”
Reviewed October 31, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

The Flying Harpoon celebrated their 1st year in business recently. In that short time, they have become one of the places we always go to when vacationing in Gulf Shores. Tucked behind the Original Oyster House, Nanc, the owner, and her staff have made their restaurant the place to go for casual dining, friendly locals, and great food. My favorite is their Roast Beef Debris Poor-Boy sandwich. It is fabulous! As I said, in addition to good food, The Flying Harpoon is a place where you can get to know some of the locals and one of those small venues where "everybody gets to know your name". We love this place and know you will too!

“Laid back, super casual, and Delicious!”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

Had the roast beef sub sandwich and it was amazing. Rum runners were so good too. We played ping pong and had a wonderful time. Not your average bar! A super laid back, friendly place where you can just kick back and relax. Everyone was so nice. Not a stuck up crowd...a fun bunch of folks.

“Best Roast Beef Poboy this side of NOLA”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

The roast beef Poboy is huge, fully dressed and smothered in debris. It is Delicious! The bartenders are great, the atmosphere is great, the times I've seen live music outside it has been great. Do yourself a favor and get a poboy and a cold beer at the Poon!
