My wife and I have been regulars at Desoto's each time we visit Gulf Shores and usually several times on each visit if we are there more than a few days. And, we visit quite frequently since we have owned a rental condo here for almost 20 years. Lunch is our favorite meal because the specials are reasonably priced, the servings adequate and the food most always tasty. My favorite at lunch time is the broiled flounder and my favorite sides are usually a salad with blue cheese dressing and fried green tomatoes. My wife is usually more varied in what she orders, country-fried steak, pork chops, shrimp or oysters, but is usually quite pleased. The hot rolls are always great and the sweet potato casserole is a favorite of my wife along with fried okra. If you go for lunch, there is less of a crowd before about 11:30 or after about 1:30.

De Sotos's building could use a make over. It does have a nice aquarium though. Four of us ate here while on vacation and all of our meals were very good. Before our meal they served fresh warm bread. Some of the best bread we have had in awhile! We had grilled grouper which was excellent. The salad was good also. The building and decor looks like it is left over from the 70's but dont let that stop you from eating here. The food is excellent!

We have been eating at Desoto's for a lot of years and almost never disappointed. We have been full-time RVers for 13 years and visit Gulf Shores 2-3 times a year for 1-2 months. Eating out for lunch every day, we are always searching for the best food at the best (cheapest) prices. Desoto's is THE BEST! and they also have a good locals following. They have an excellent lunch menu . . . great food for $7.25 which includes your drink. Most of the area places feature Asian fish for their specials, but Desotos has FLOUNDER and it is great! Their mac & cheese is said to be delicious, though I'm trying to do low carbs!

Meal was good and they looked out for food allergies. Crab claws were very good and a lot of them. Gumbo was good too.
