Having stayed here in 2011 and it being "the best vacation ever," I was worried this year wouldn't live up to the hype/memories. Not to worry - it was better. We stayed 7 nights/8 days beginning Aug 3, 2013 in a ground floor condo in the Bristol tower. Higher floors do have better views, but for our 6 kids (ages 5, 9, 11, 16, 17, 22), this just works better. Younger kids are able to come and go to the pool right outside our patio and we don't have to worry about them on elevators, etc. There is breakfast available at the Clubhouse upstairs restaurant every morning and coffee outside the fitness center; however, we go to Walmart upon arrival and stock up so we never went there. Note: they provide "initial supply" of trash bags, paper towels, dishwasher det...we always bring or buy those items plus laundry supplies, paper plates, plastic cups, spices for nights we cook in condo, coffee filters, napkins, hand soap in bottles (they provide bar). We ate dinner at the Clubhouse restaurant "Coast" one night - $$$$ but excellent food and unbeatable views. It is a drive from The Beach Club "into town" but honestly, our kids announced that they just preferred to stay at the resort. They played volleyball every day and black light volleyball one night, basketball, watched "dive in" movies at the clubhouse pool, played ping pong, enjoyed the pools, beach, arcade room, took tram to ice cream shop, snacked, slept and watched tv when tired. Staff was so friendly, so many other families with kids there, secure and clean grounds, breathtakingly beautiful. Amazing place that we all long to return to again and again. It's pricey if you compare to other places but honestly, it's worth it.

For some reason the first picture got in by mistake Look up The Beach Club. It was an outstanding resort. Rent thru Spectrum Resorts. You get more amenities. The kids get the activites free(two a day) you are able to use the Clubhouse. It was very clean and friendly. We will be returning again.

We are two adults with a 2 year old and almost 4 year old. This was perfect for us. We stayed in the Avalon and rented through Vacation Rentals By Owner. The unit was clean and spacious with a great view. We lived having the restaurants on site and ate at all three. The beach was well maintained as were the pools. My husband enjoyed seeing security regularly touring the grounds. We really, really enjoyed the dive in at the clubhouse pool. All in all we were constantly entertained. I will say that I am not sure I needed to pay the clubhouse fees (about $100) because we never used our clubhouse cards for anything. One downside for me- NO RECYCLING?!?! It's obscene to think of the water bottles, beer cans and beer bottles that could and should be recycled.

Pros: Ocean front views, walks on beach, nearby nature areas (Bon Secour wildlife area, bird sanctuary on Dauphin Island), tennis courts, friendly staff, good seafood restaurants in Gulf Shores.
Cons: Geared almost entirely to families with young children, crowded beach, fitness center is small & needs more equipment, lack of a decently-stocked grocery store on site, no recycling (!).

We were at the Beach Club (Bristol 1106) the week of July 14th and loved everything about it! It was clean, secure and had amazing beach access and views. Our condo was just as pictured on the rental site and didn't disappoint. The pools were great and our daughter enjoyed the Clubhouse activities, including the movie nights. We knew it was off the main drag but that was exactly why we chose that location so we loved it. The property was very clean and the staff were all very friendly. I appreciated that people respected the "no saving chairs" policy, too. I do have one complaint, however, in that the card reader to enter the Clubhouse pool from the beach side didn't work the entire time and it was annoying when no one was there to let us in. We could enter through the Clubhouse just fine. I believe this is a problem that should be an easy fix. I recommend you get groceries on the way in and avoid the rip-off Fort Morgan Pizza/Quick Mart because they don't have prices listed on their items and it's kind of a dump. There is a Dollar General further east and we had better luck there. We ate at the Village Hideaway on our last night and the service was nothing special and I was surprised at how small the menu was for choices. But it was on site and convenient. We liked the tram that ran up to the restaurant, too! I would definitely stay again and recommend it to others!

Stayed here the 2nd week of July in the Bristol building. Checking in was the first of many pleasant surprises. First the staff met me with cookies that my kids really enjoyed after a long car trip. There was a problem associated with the unit (not spectrum’s fault) and a gentleman there I believe his name was Justin Miller, who really, really went out of his way to fix a problem that was really the condo owner’s fault but he made right. The resort itself is out of the way, in a good way and very well maintained. The unit was spacious and very nicely decorated. The pools and beach were crowded but they are at any resort in that area during July. Southern hospitality was in full effect as many times during our stay one of the employees would ask how we were doing and offer help. They have a great outdoor BBQ area and tons of amenities. The restaurant at the front of the resort is perfect for Kids and adults. Especially if mom and dad want to have some wine since it is within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this place and plan on returning.

Room Tip: If you have young kids there are BBQ grill at the playground and picnic tables which makes for a fun...

Not much new to add to other reviews but...
Be aware that this hotel (condo complex) is down a long road away from the "main drag" so every time you want to go to a store or restaurant (other than what is on site) you are looking at a 30 minute round trip drive at the very least. We researched and knew this going in. We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo with 2 beds in the "secondary" bedroom. It was perfect for us as a couple with 2 kids. The condo overall was excellent. It was clean, well furnished, nice view, quiet, etc...
These are privately owned condos that are rented out.
Here's what I found that you should know
There are 4 buildings (a, b, c, d... Avalon, Bristol, Can't remember, and Doral). They sit in a row on the beach. All rooms have views of the ocean, though obviously, a higher room is a bit nicer than one on the ground floor. We were on the 11th floor. There is a "clubhouse" between the B and C buildings. It has a restaurant and a small "arcade"
Now for what is lacking... First of all, this resort is designed for people who are DRIVING here. Since we flew to the area, we were at a disadvantage. The resort has beach chairs, but they remove them at 5 pm...Obviously, it is nice to sit on the beach until later in the afternoon than 5pm so it is helpful to bring your own chairs. The Walgreens down the street does a HUGE business in beach towels, beach toys, chairs, Frisbees, etc as NONE of these items (other than chairs for limited hours) are provided by the hotel
The hotel does not have any facility for breakfast. No starbucks or any coffee place...nothing. There is a "pool side" place with burgers and fries (literally like 6 items on the menu) and service is very slow. There is also a nice dinner restaurant that is good. However, for breakfast, you are going into town or going to buy food from the grocery store and make your own.
All in all it is a nice stay. A nice beach area and the staff is friendly as long as you don't ask for anything complicated (we had an issue where our keys were demagnetized or not working and it was quite a fiasco to get a replacement). Note also that the "check in" area is far away from the condos themselves
I would go back
However, if you go... If you drive, bring all of your own beach stuff (chairs, boogie boards, towels, sand toys, EVERYthing) and bring plenty of groceries (esp breakfast items) or else you'll be making the long drive to "town" frequently.
I liked everything overall, but am stunned that there were not more food options. In addition, I was sad thinking of the waste as the staff people I spoke with said they throw away tons of food left by guests as well as beach items that are purchased by guests not knowing that they are not provided

Room Tip: I would prefer a higher floor. IF you would want a grass area outside your room, I saw that "so...
