We were at the Beach Club (Bristol 1106) the week of July 14th and loved everything about it! It was clean, secure and had amazing beach access and views. Our condo was just as pictured on the rental site and didn't disappoint. The pools were great and our daughter enjoyed the Clubhouse activities, including the movie nights. We knew it was off the main drag but that was exactly why we chose that location so we loved it. The property was very clean and the staff were all very friendly. I appreciated that people respected the "no saving chairs" policy, too. I do have one complaint, however, in that the card reader to enter the Clubhouse pool from the beach side didn't work the entire time and it was annoying when no one was there to let us in. We could enter through the Clubhouse just fine. I believe this is a problem that should be an easy fix. I recommend you get groceries on the way in and avoid the rip-off Fort Morgan Pizza/Quick Mart because they don't have prices listed on their items and it's kind of a dump. There is a Dollar General further east and we had better luck there. We ate at the Village Hideaway on our last night and the service was nothing special and I was surprised at how small the menu was for choices. But it was on site and convenient. We liked the tram that ran up to the restaurant, too! I would definitely stay again and recommend it to others!

Stayed here the 2nd week of July in the Bristol building. Checking in was the first of many pleasant surprises. First the staff met me with cookies that my kids really enjoyed after a long car trip. There was a problem associated with the unit (not spectrum’s fault) and a gentleman there I believe his name was Justin Miller, who really, really went out of his way to fix a problem that was really the condo owner’s fault but he made right. The resort itself is out of the way, in a good way and very well maintained. The unit was spacious and very nicely decorated. The pools and beach were crowded but they are at any resort in that area during July. Southern hospitality was in full effect as many times during our stay one of the employees would ask how we were doing and offer help. They have a great outdoor BBQ area and tons of amenities. The restaurant at the front of the resort is perfect for Kids and adults. Especially if mom and dad want to have some wine since it is within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this place and plan on returning.

Room Tip: If you have young kids there are BBQ grill at the playground and picnic tables which makes for a fun...

Not much new to add to other reviews but...
Be aware that this hotel (condo complex) is down a long road away from the "main drag" so every time you want to go to a store or restaurant (other than what is on site) you are looking at a 30 minute round trip drive at the very least. We researched and knew this going in. We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo with 2 beds in the "secondary" bedroom. It was perfect for us as a couple with 2 kids. The condo overall was excellent. It was clean, well furnished, nice view, quiet, etc...
These are privately owned condos that are rented out.
Here's what I found that you should know
There are 4 buildings (a, b, c, d... Avalon, Bristol, Can't remember, and Doral). They sit in a row on the beach. All rooms have views of the ocean, though obviously, a higher room is a bit nicer than one on the ground floor. We were on the 11th floor. There is a "clubhouse" between the B and C buildings. It has a restaurant and a small "arcade"
Now for what is lacking... First of all, this resort is designed for people who are DRIVING here. Since we flew to the area, we were at a disadvantage. The resort has beach chairs, but they remove them at 5 pm...Obviously, it is nice to sit on the beach until later in the afternoon than 5pm so it is helpful to bring your own chairs. The Walgreens down the street does a HUGE business in beach towels, beach toys, chairs, Frisbees, etc as NONE of these items (other than chairs for limited hours) are provided by the hotel
The hotel does not have any facility for breakfast. No starbucks or any coffee place...nothing. There is a "pool side" place with burgers and fries (literally like 6 items on the menu) and service is very slow. There is also a nice dinner restaurant that is good. However, for breakfast, you are going into town or going to buy food from the grocery store and make your own.
All in all it is a nice stay. A nice beach area and the staff is friendly as long as you don't ask for anything complicated (we had an issue where our keys were demagnetized or not working and it was quite a fiasco to get a replacement). Note also that the "check in" area is far away from the condos themselves
I would go back
However, if you go... If you drive, bring all of your own beach stuff (chairs, boogie boards, towels, sand toys, EVERYthing) and bring plenty of groceries (esp breakfast items) or else you'll be making the long drive to "town" frequently.
I liked everything overall, but am stunned that there were not more food options. In addition, I was sad thinking of the waste as the staff people I spoke with said they throw away tons of food left by guests as well as beach items that are purchased by guests not knowing that they are not provided

Room Tip: I would prefer a higher floor. IF you would want a grass area outside your room, I saw that "so...

We stayed at the Beach Club the week of July 7th to July 14th. We stayed in room 1903 in the Avalon Building, which was on the 19th floor. We had a 5 bedroom condo with a total of 12 people (8 adults, 2 teens, 1 toddler and 1 infant), which was an extended family vacation. The condo had a bath room off of each bedroom, which was convenient. The condo was extremely nice, well decorated and clean. There were more kitchen appliances and cookware that you usually get with a rental condo. There was a large patio with nice furniture that overlooked the pool and beach. Overall the condo was more than expected.

The complex had 5 pools, which were never overly crowded. Thought the complex had enough chairs around the pool, so we never had a problem getting a chair, which is somewhat unusual for vacations.

We did eat at the property's sports bar (The Hideaway) on two occasions. The first night when we arrived and the food was good with good service. Nice after a long drive. The second time we ate at the restaurant was the last night before we left. The food was still okay, however the service was TERRIBLE. It was apparent that their were not enough waitresses or staff members. Very disappointing. I guess like most restaurants, it is probably hit or miss.

On the second to last day of going to the beach every day, my son had his flip flops stolen from the end of the boardwalk, where there are numerous shoes lined up. After triple checking for the shoes, I spoke with a worker, who mentioned that it happens more that you think, especially with nice brand name flip flops. Very sad for a property this nice. I suggest that you take your flip flops to your chairs with you and not leave them on the boardwalk for potential thieves.

Other than the one restaurant and stolen flip flops, it was a wonderful place to stay and will recommend to others and likely return.

This was our first time in Gulf Shores. The Beach Club was a wonderful pick for our family (2 adults and a 4 year old. We stayed in the Doral Building,11th floor. Condo was great, wonderful views! Very clean and comfortable. Minor issues with the condo: difficult to open sliding glass door, especially for a 4 year old; Poor lighting in master bath, shower curtain had to be fixed with each shower; toilet seat popped off in 2nd bath.

Main issue we had was the beach chair rental. We reserved beach chairs through the online website of the condo (which now we realize is outsourced). First day to the beach, the young kids running the beach chairs told us our chairs where at the other end of the beach. We stayed at the Doral building and should have chairs at that building. They did managed to put some chairs most for us in between other chairs after we did not except their answer. The young "men" running the chairs did not seem to care much and didn't even get up from their chairs for the longest time. So, if you want to rent chairs and don't want to walk down the beach, make sure they are in front of the condo you choose. Otherwise, I love the semi secluded location. Doral building is at the end and seemed to be less busy, which we liked. We will be back!

Room Tip: Double check beach chair rentals so you don't have to walk away from your condo

The Beach Club made our vacation of 2013 a success! We stayed in the Bristol Tower and had a total of 6 adult family members in a 3 bedroom condo and it was fabulous! The balcony was a wonderful place to enjoy breakfast and lunches while enjoying the ocean view. Beach and pool were great and we will definately stay at the Beach Club in the future!

We found The Beach Club of Gulf Shores on vrbo's website and booked directly with the owner, who was very responsive and proactively sent emails with suggestions to help make our week easier. Our condo was on the 10th floor of the Avalon Building (1 of 4 highrises on this complex) and had a very large balcony with wonderful views of the ocean and in-ground swimming pools.

While there were VERY many condos in our building, we rarely had to wait for one of the 4 elevators and the resort offered shopping carts and luggage racks to help moving in/out much easier!

The staff was extremely friendly and kept the grounds clean and visually appealing.
We even witnessed a beautiful beach wedding one evening during our stay!

My husband played tennis every morning on the clay tennis courts, and especially liked having use of the ball machine.

My friend & I took advantage of the on-site exercise activities ... Aqua Zumba with 63 year old HIGH ENERGY Marilyn was INCREDIBLE FUN! Before leaving for the week, we filled out comment cards suggesting they offer the class EVERY morning (instead of twice a week)!

The Blue Angels put on a local "show" for us 3 of the mornings during our stay. They would fly upside down with their landing gear exposed, 2 or 3 at a time, in circles, sometimes with their vapors making a trail in the sky, etc, for probably 10-20 minutes each time. Since we had found out that the official show in Pensacola had been cancelled due to govt sequestering, our family was THRILLED to be able to watch this right-on-the-beach exhibition !!!

The Village Hideaway, the on-site Sports Bar, offered a GREAT venue for us to watch the NBA Finals between the Heat and the Spurs (very important for the 3 teen-age boys in our group). They offered friendly service, quality food, and NO WAIT which was RARE in the Gulf Shores area. In fact, my husband said the Fish Tacos he ordered at the Hideaway were his FAVORITE dinner of the week~

I would have rated this property a 5 but for these reasons:
* $36/day to take advantage of the "Club" was a bit pricey for a few exercise classes and use of the tennis courts, etc. Fortunately for us, we got the membership fee waived by Justin Miller at Spectrum's front desk due to the chronic problems we had with the key card entry to our condo (see below).

* We had LOTS of problems with our key cards and had to make at least 4 trips (maybe 5?) to the front desk to get the cards re-keyed. In the end, Spectrum Mgt sent Maintenance in to totally replace the key card machine attached to our front door. Our vrbo owner admitted that the key cards have been an ongoing problem at the complex. Since the front office was so far away (1/2 mile?), this was a big inconvenience for us. We found ourselves crossing our fingers each time we slipped a card into the reader, wiggling and jiggling it to try to gain access. Grrrrrr.

* Despite thinking our family would participate in many of the Pool Side Activities advertised by The Beach Club, there was very little / no participation in these events (we had looked forward to the Scavenger Hunts, etc). I would have liked to have seen an Activity Director create some excitement to hike up the participation. In the end, our families enjoyed the relaxing pace and calm atmosphere at the beach and pools, but we had to adjust our expectations since we had anticipated jumping into several of the pre-advertised activities.

* The "Tram" was scarcely seen on the property, so when we had to go to the front office, we ended up driving our car instead. (The front office is probably 1/2 mile from the 4 condo buildings).

All in all, The Beach Club is a BEAUTIFUL resort, off the beaten path of the Gulf Shores crowds, and I would STRONGLY RECOMMEND the resort if you don't mind a 20-30 minute drive into town for meals and shopping, etc. Our families PREFERRED the quiet ambiance we experienced down near our end up the peninsula. In fact, while sightseeing on Hwy 182 one afternoon, we all found ourselves saying, "WE have the BEST place in the area at The Beach Club!"

And, if I were asked what my FAVORITE characteristic of the Gulf Shores area was, I would hands down tell you it was "the FRIENDLY Locals." FRIENDLY characterized ALL of the folks we encountered during our stay, showing us first-hand the true meaning of Southern Hospitality!

We WILL be back!

PS: This Resort is DEFINITELY Family Oriented! If you are Single or a young Couple looking for excitement and action, I'd recommend you look elsewhere. For instance, by approx 8pm each night, 95% of the people had left the beach and poolside areas, most likely because it meant bedtime for all the 5 and under kids on-site.

Room Tip: Condos vary significantly depending on the owner. Be sure to view on-line photos of your specific c...
