Go here. Pay the fee to go for the walk. The fishermen will show you what they caught, the pelicans hang around for scraps and sometimes walk on the pier with you, and sharks come for scraps too. You get to see all that for $3/adult.

We visited the pier over spring break with three kids (15, 13, 10). There was a small fee to see the pier but it was worth it! We saw people catching fish, tons of dolphins, stingrays, and pelicans. The pelican was right on the railing waiting to be thrown food when the fishermen cleaned their fish. It was very entertaining for all ages!

This was an exceptional walk that I wasn't expecting. The pier seemed well maintained with a few concession stands. I walked out mid afternoon to view the shore birds/ocean and returned later for the sunset. As this is a popular fishing pier, an extra treat were the sharks. The fishermen were cleaning their catch which attracted three sharks and later, pelicans.

I stayed at Gulf State Park for 4 months, the Pier is part of the park. I visited the Pier on multiple occasions. I believe it is the second longest fishing pier in the Gulf of Mexico.
Great wild life views. I saw a shark swimming looking over the edge of the pier. Great Blue Herons, seagulls, and pelicans are always there.

I went on a tour of the Gulf State Pier with my college Hospitality and Tourism class March 26th, 2019 and we had an absolute blast! The tour guides were so friendly and gave us a lot of knowledge about the pier and the park itself. We were able to see dolphins and other wildlife as well. Overall I had a wonderful experience, and it is very family friendly!
