Just enjoyed walking up and down the pier and watching the pelicans and fisherman. Even saw one guy real in a pretty big shark.

The views are beautiful from the pier. Everyone was fishing so it gave us a chance to see the Pelicans up close :) We didn't fish so it was a quick stroll up and down then back down the beach to our condo. The people were nice, telling us how they've caught sharks and such..no one caught anything huge while we were there. The y do have 2 restrooms and it looked like construction for a snack area was underway. BE SURE TO WHERE SHOES as fish hooks and reremnants all around!!

Went with my brother in late-March as the "women folk" played and frolicked on the beach outside our condo. Read up on the fishing licenses (for over 16 yr. olds) and other fishing restrictions and limits if fishing. This is a nice, newer, nearly 1,500 ft. long pier that is advertised as the longest along the Gulf coast. It costs only $2 to sightsee just one visit in a day, while for $3, I was told I could come and go as often as desired until 7 a.m. the next day. Hundreds of people I'd estimate from 8 to 80 lined both sides of this modern concrete and treated lumber pier with amenities such multiple restrooms and fish cleaning stations. It appeared as if they were readying to open a small gift shop and outdoor food spot near the covered entry area where admission is taken. It does cost more if fishing with limits on the number of rods and 4" diameter reels, etc.

Pros: pier is long, clean bathrooms at the beginning and middle of the pier. Electrical and water bibs available all along the pier for your use. New snack shack currently being built on the pier. Staff really nice.
Cons: no live bait the entire week we visited while on vacation, cost per person to fish is $8 for a 24 hour period. To walk out onto the pier, it's $2. They should offer discount rate for a weekly visitor. DONT FORGET in Alabama you must have a fishing license to fish on the pier or surf. It costs $27 per person, you can get your license at the pier or at any walmart in Alabama. A vacation that includes fishing in alabama isnt cheap, but its fun!
