We almost didn't spend the $2 to walk the pier, but I am so glad we did! It is a very nice, easy walk and plenty of places to sit and rest if you need to. At the end of the pier is where the local fishermen are and they are so friendly and fun to watch. They were feeding the pelicans and would let us know when there was something interesting to see.....like a shark swimming around! I loved the whole experience!

Buzzing with people and fishermen. Great place to go for a sunset and worth the $2 charge per person. Very romantic.

If you have some time one evening and want to take a walk after dinner, consider going to the fishing pier. It's a long pier but an easy walk and you can usually catch a pleasant breeze and watch someone else catch a fish or eel or some other creature.

On a normal day at the beach I may have passed up taking a walk on the pier - it cost $2 just to "sight-see" and I'm no fisher either. But on our most recent trip to Gulf Shores there had been a jelly fish bloom, and the beach was littered with blue Portuguese Men of War - so we took a break from dodging jellies to walk on the pier. There's a little snack shop right at the front of the pier. They don't have a huge selection, but they do have ice cream sandwiches. We got a couple of those and walked out on the pier where we loved watching the sea birds and the guys catching fish along the sides. They also sell a wristband for an extra dollar that lets you go on and off the pier to sight-see all day.
