Owner description: Gulf State Park's two miles of beaches greet you with plenty of white sun-kissed sand, surging surf, seagulls and sea shells, but there is more than sand and surf to sink your toes into. Inside Gulf State Park there is a championship golf course, new beach pavilion, rental cottages, tennis courts, camp sites, hiking trails, Zip Line, and a fishing pier that is 20-feet wide and extends 1,512 feet into the Gulf. This and much more make Gulf State Park the perfect in-state vacation or out-of-state adventure.

“Great Park even under fire”
Reviewed June 30, 2011

Even with the park having a fire, everone there has been working hard to keep everyone safe and informed.

The sites are large, there may not be alot of sites with shade, but then again it is "The Beach". My husband and I have traveled all across the US and many of the parks we have been to don't have shade. It didn't make the parks or the cities the park are in any less beautiful or fun to visit.

The bath houses are very clean, AC is very cold in the bath houses and there are so many of them. The park is kept very clean and we felt very safe in the park.

There are so many people on bikes in and around the park, everyone needs to use caution when driving and follow the speed limit. It's great to see so many families enjoying the chance to ride the trails together. I am praying that the trails will be reopened by the 4th of July with little damage after the fire. The great thing is that all the greenery will grow back even better and make the park even prettier.

The new pool is wonderful, so much fun for our Granddaughter. The beach was clean and we enjoyed every minute of it.

The staff at the park is run by half state employees and half volunteers. The volunteers work very hard to make it a pleasant place to visit. We had the chance to get to know several of them and they all seemed so nice and friendly.

Over all, ITS A GREAT PARK AND A GREAT PLACE TO VISIT, We Love it at Gulf State Park and paln on returning in July.

“Nice park BUT...”
Reviewed June 19, 2011

We are camping now at Gulf State Park in Alabama. The park is nice. Big lots, quiet , clean bath houses. We made reservations here after seeing pics and hearing about the great pool. I'm sure the pool can be lovely however it is closed because of high algae. We are VERY disappointed. I don't understand it. This is a resort community, surely there is someone around experienced in pool maintenance. It's not exactly rocket science. If you are looking for an RV resort with a nice pool,( I hate to say it because looking at it, it should be nice), maybe you should look elsewhere.

“A State Park that offers a lot for the money.”
Reviewed May 26, 2011

We stayed at the RV park mon-thurs and found it to be very quiet and impeccably clean. It is conveniently located to beach(about 1mile),fishing pier(about2miles), restaurants, area attractions and walmart. There are a lot of sites right on the lake. However,it is not easy to fish from the bank.
There is a boat launch area that has a covered breeze way with lots of picnic tables and bathrooms. The boat launch seemed the perfect place to fish from the dock for those without a boat.
The recently opened pool and splash pad were a huge hit with my kids. The pool is really big and has shade over a portion to help with sunburn patrol :)
We visited the nature center, located by the pool, and got to see a lots of reptile and animal that are indigenous to the area. Including a live baby alligator, live screech owl and lots of snakes.
The camp store is well stocked with essentials and lots of cool souvenirs. Overall we had a great time at Gulf State Park and will hopefully be back many times in the future.

“Huge, friendly clean state park”
Reviewed March 15, 2011

We stayed last weekend and found our two day stay not long enough! The office is understaffed for a campground of 500 plus sites, but after a half hour or so wait for our turn, we were quickly processed in and setting up our 5th wheel on a site. We paid $31.00 a night. Other campers there were very friendly, lots of bicyclers all day and people about. Campground was extremely clean and bathhouses were very nice and clean. Dogs were picked up after and on leashes. Pool was not open, but looked like it will be wonderful when it does. Very pretty pool. The beach is a short drive from the campground. There were some pull through sites, but mostly back in and they were all fairly level with large concrete pads and electric, water and sewer. We had no internet access but they say they are working on getting it at campsites. No cable tv. It was surprisingly quiet and we slept late with no disturbances. Reservations aren't taken until April 1, so we just took a chance and stopped in and they had about 5 sites available so it was almost full with snowbirds. We saw lots of tags from Canada and Michigan and Minnesota. We enjoyed it and will definitely be back.
