Americas Best Value Inn & Suites- Foley / Gulf Shores
Ranked #10 of 10 Hotels in Foley
Reviewed August 14, 2009

My mother & I travel to Foley about 3 times a year & we always stay at America`s Best Inn & Suites because we have found it to be the best. We have visited the area for a number of years & have stayed at other motels until we discovered America`s Best Inn 3 or 4 years ago & now we would not consider staying anywhere else. It is clean with a safe wholesome environment with beautiful furnishings in the rooms. The staff is very friendly & helpful espically Laura & Linda who work the front desk. They always greet us, call our name & treat us just like we are family who have come to visit. The room rates are also very good. The motel is located in the heart of Foley & is convienient to restraunts, shopping and the beaches of Gulf Shores & Orange Beach. What more could you want.

We booked this room the night before we stayed. Staff was friendly, room looked OK, but smelled a little funny. Can't complain about the rate. Might think about something a little more upscale next time, but wouldn't say that we'd never go back.

We stayed here for the July 4th weekend, as hotels closer to the beach were booked up. I was skeptical because I wasn't familiar with this hotel chain. We arrived early and were allowed to check in. The check-in process was fast and easy. The desk clerk was friendly. The rooms are a little outdated compared to most hotels today, but they were clean. The hotel provided free breakfast; however, it didn't have a lot of choices. That wasn't a problem for us, as we were told when we booked the room that they provided a very limited breakfast. The rooms had microwaves and refrigerators, so you could easily bring your own breakfast. The pool was clean and average-sized for a hotel.

If you are planning to stay at the beach or shopping for most of the day, this would be a good hotel choice. If you plan on spending the majority of your time in the hotel room, you may want to cough up more money and opt for a condo on the beach with a view.

Came down on a last minute photography shoot with a friend. Called the day before and got a room. I asked SPECIFICALLY if they had wireless internet and if it worked? The lady said, "Oh yes, it works, we've never had any problems." Well NEVER once did I get a signal and being a business trip we really needed it. I went to the front desk and they told me they had been having problems for a while with it and didn't know what was wrong. Our room was not clean when we got here. Check in is at 3pm, this was at 4:30pm when we arrived. And last, after being gone for the evening and returning to the hotel later that evening, neither key to our room worked. SO overall, HORRID experience! (had to upload our photos in a Krystal's parking lot)

We stayed here for 3 days with our 3 small kids and my parents. We were able to get 2 rooms with a door in the middle which was nice. The rooms were clean, although ours was non-smoking, but smelled like smoke anyway. But everything was clean and was newer looking. Also, upon check-in we all got little baggies full of samples of different things like medicine, toiletries, etc. It was really nice. The staff was really friendly and housekeeping did a great job, even though my kids trashed our room EVERY DAY! The outside of the hotel is really pretty with flowers everywhere. The kids really enjoyed going out and taking little walks around the hotel. The location is great... right down the street from Wal-Mart! :) It's also close to the Tanger Outlets and some really yummy food. I will say that the continental breakfast left a lot to be desired. Maybe I've just been spoiled by other hotels. This hotel had toast, bagels, cereal, and pre-packaged snacks. It was still nice to have a free breakfast, but we hardly used it because it wasn't very filling. But I'll take a reasonable rate over a free breakfast.

Phoned two days before arrival during the Gulf Shores Shrimp Festival. This location was the only one with reasonable rates and availability on Sat. evening. Arrived in the late afternoon. The room was clean and inviting. Large King Bed very comfortable. Everyone at the hotel was friendly and nice. Would definately stay there again.

We arrived at the property and proceeded to the check-in desk where the Manager asked if we were checking in for two rooms. We said no we only have one room and provided the printout. She then told us she had two reservations and that we were responsible for both rooms and needed to contact Expedia to get reimbursed for the cancellation fee (1 night) the hotel was charging us for the second room - the one we never booked.

When she initially said there was a duplicate reservation, we fully expected her to say no problem I will take care of it, but that is not what happened it took us 3 hours over 2 days to get resolution.

Additionally the bathroom in our room was rusty around the toilet and mirror molding was coming off.

In all fairness to the property and to the customer I feel that I must address this issue with the multiple reservation. The policies and procedures were followed on this property. I was both understanding and accomodating in trying to give this customer all of the information and copies of 2nd reservation they needed to go back to the website where they booked so that the website could correct the problem. I also explained to the guest that if they needed anymore information please call me and I would help them in any way. The problem is when a customer books through expedia, etc
it comes trough multiple systems to get to us. We only know what we receive and must books rooms accordingly. If we receive 2 reservations for the same person we reserve two rooms for that person. If we are to assume that because we get 2 rooms for the same person it must be a duplicate, even though it has 2 seperate reservations numbers, and decide to cancel the extra room that was really needed by the guest we would understand when the guest got here and was short a room and there was not another room within 100 miles and was yelling us. Therefore, each reservation that comes by fax with a seperate reservation number gets a room. I did not purposely try to make this guest angry and it appears that they did get their money for the mistake the website made from the website that made the error. That is what should have happened and did. America's Best Inn Foley
