My family recently stayed here while visiting some of the attractions in the Shoals area, and we were very impressed by both the location and the friendliness of the staff. The hotel is situated on the Tennessee River, and our room on the sixth floor had an outstanding view of Wilson Dam (built in the 1920s) and the pool area. A city-owned park, complete with a playground and a splash pad, is only a short walk away; however, my seven-year-old son was more interested in the awesome hotel pool which features fountains, a slide, and a cool cave buffeted by two waterfalls. We did not eat onsite as a host of restaurants and stores are just two miles away, but the property does feature a revolving restaurant with a spectacular view of the area and another, more reasonably-priced restaurant, overlooking the pool.

The hotel itself is very nice, but the hallways and rooms are small compared to other Marriott spa/resort properties. A large chair was wedged awkwardly between one of the beds and the balcony, making the room appear even smaller, but the bathroom was large and featured both a tub and a roomy shower.

Everyone in the hotel was friendly and professional. Molly at the front desk and Corey with security deserve a special mention for going beyond what is expected to make our trip enjoyable as does Robbie who took our bags to the room. His genuine enthusiasm for his job and his pride in the hotel really helped our stay begin on the right foot.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper-level room on the east side.

We use this as our staycation a couple times per year. It is always pristine and wonderful from the time you check in until you leave. It is fun to take our daughter to the pool and just relax. I love ordering room service because it tastes absolutely divine. I have used the spa facilities several times since this opened in our area and have always been happy with my massages or facials. It is a nice way to escape from reality and treat yourself to something special. This is a wonderful addition to our area! Don't forget to play the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course during your stay. This is how my husband occupies his time while I lounge at the spa.

We spent 4 nights in the hotel over the July 4th holiday. The resort was our base for playing golf on the two very nice RTJ golf courses at The Shoals. The rooms were average compared to some of the other Marriott Resorts we have stayed in. Everyone was very friendly. The breakfast buffett was low on many items most mornings despite our arriving well before it closed. The food in the Swampers bar was very good and the nightly music was a great touch. Dinner at the 360 Grille was a highlight of the trip and well exceeded our expectations. Given the area this is the only option I would consider in Florence.

Room Tip: Request a high floor. The resort claims that the rooms all overlook the TN river but our second floor room view was quite obstructed.
