“Tasty Chicken Salad”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

For lunch I had the chicken salad with walnuts on a bed of locally grown mixed greens and loved it. It comes with balsamic dressing and is a bit tart ( I like it) but you can always request another dressing. My husband had a flatbread sandwich that he really enjoyed too. We were not planning on dessert but went ahead and got the skillet cookie to share and it was delicious. It is a large chocolate chip cookie in an iron skillet still warm with caramel and topped with vanilla ice cream. Enough to share and very good, love it that it is still warm. Service was good and friendly. Also have outdoor seating.

“Great meatloaf”
Reviewed June 21, 2014 via mobile

I am typically not a big fan of meatloaf, probably got fed too much of it as a kid, but I really have to say the meatloaf at city hardware is outstanding. Three cuts of meat go into the meatloaf, which makes it very tasty and tender. The it is covered in sriracha dipped bacon, that is not too hot but adds tons of flavor. Paired with mashed potatoes that are heavenly. My wife had the catfish, which was very good also. Service was great, and very friendly. It is on the pricey side, but still worth a stop. Definitely recommend a stop at city hardware if you are in Florence.

“Where the locals go!”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

Whether you're passing through Florence or have lived here for years, you have to try City Hardware. The locals rave about the fresh ingredients grown right here in the Shoals. Salads, burgers, and everything in between...everything is delicious! But make sure you leave room for dessert: Cast Iron Chocolate Chip Cookie.
Also be sure to check out Ricatoni's next door (same owner as CH)...also where the locals go for great Italian food!

“Good place to eat when next door is busy. :)”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

I have eaten here 3 times and it was good, not great. The pork chop is really good and you have to get the skillet cookie. Service was ok, but was slow all three times.

“Poutine....in Alabama?”
Reviewed May 19, 2014

This is a wonderful bistro/pub in downtown Florence.Sitting on main street with a clever garage door balcony pen in good weather.Pleasant food with a good assortment of craft beers. But one goes there to eat creative pub food. Including the best poutine in Alabama...maybe the only but still rivaling true Quebec poutine. Perhaps it is because the oner/operator is Canadien. Even if you are not a homesick from North of the Border the food is truly worth the visit.Prices are reasonable and the service is attentive without being in your face.
