As someone using TripAdvisor to plan a vacation I often find restaurants off the beaten path. This is one location that I would have never found where it not for TripAdvisor. I was specifically looking for places to try BBQ. After spending a week in the south, and eating BBQ several times along the way, I did not find the BBQ at Bunyan's anything out of the ordinary.
This place does seem to have quite a good local following. While we were eating there was a steady flow of take out business. The overwhelming majority of recent reviews are locals. A local person might love this place as a great place to pick up a sandwich for lunch. If you are a tourist just passing through, your perspective might be a little different. The BBQ was good, but not worth going out of the way to find the place.
Looking at the photos here, it is difficult to put this building, and its location into proper perspective. It was hard to tell just how small the place is on the inside. The seating capacity is 8, that is four tables with two chairs each. Not that is a bad thing, but someone passing through should be prepared to take their food elsewhere to eat. This is not a restaurant, it is basically a take out counter similar to an ice cream stand.
