This is a FREE attraction that is great for families, but all ages can enjoy it. It is fun and educational. Great for school age groups.

“Our kids love this place”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

You can plan quite a few science lessons around this place! Yes, it is small, but it has quite a bit in it! Our kids enjoy it and they even have a new video to show, so that is cool. The staff are helpful and kind. The bathrooms are always clean and the place is free! My son is almost 2 and loves it and my nine year old daughter still enjoys it. But then I take my children to wildlife refuges and to hike in nature often. They love animals and plants more than television and video games. If you as the adult will take the time and enjoy the museum and share that enthusiasm with your kids, the kids will have a good time, too!
Oh, the gift shop is not over priced and so that is a bonus!

“A little Buggy”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

So many bugs! HOw can you ever think a place to display so many of them. Boys loved this adventure. Looking for a place during the summer to keep kids entertain! Look no more this is your place! Nearby fast foods convient to park on 6th ave if you want a picnic and fun play area, near Decatur High school.

“A Little Disappointed”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

I recently took my grandson to the museum on a warm summer day. It is small and pretty cluttered with a lot of diverse items. There are many displays of weird bugs and insects, stuffed birds and animals (bobcat, beaver, eagle, etc.), fossils, animal bones, and lots of other stuff. All of this was probably for an older child, one at least 6 years old. It doesn't hold the interest of a younger child. My grandson is only four and didn't think much of it.

There are a few alive creatures (fish tank, snake, spider, etc.) but it is mostly just dead things to look at. The museum is free and has a small gift shop at the front. You can just wander around at your own pace. I would allow about 30 minutes for a younger child and up to an hour for an older one who is interested in science.
