If you visit Dauphin Island, the Lighthouse Bakery is a must-stop. Owner Mary Scarborough and her staff go out of their way to make your experience here pleasant, delicious and memorable. It's such a cheerful, homey and warm place, I'd come here for the ambience alone, but, luckily, the food is consistently good, too - great breakfast/brunch sandwiches and omelets, wonderful, decadent baked goods, breads and coffees and sweet gift items in a restored Victorian bungalow. Ms. Mary is always trying to better her establishment by trying new things, too. I can't say enough good things about this place. Be warned - during the summer peak season there is often a line out the door, so come early and stake out a table, or you an do take out. But in my opinion, eat-in is a much better experience!

This place has really good food, especially sandwiches and bakery products. The place is bright and cheerful and is a good place to have lunch when you're on Dauphine Island. The food is tasty and the prices are moderate.

We stopped by this cafe after visiting Fort Gaines. It looks as though a home was converted into a restaurant. The place is tastefully decorated and the food is very tasty. The staff is efficient and friendly. My wife had an omelet and I had a sandwich made with a croissant. Both were very good.

I can't resist their cinnamon rolls. But my favorite is their turkey and swiss croissants - made with their fresh made breads! Plus they have wi-fi. A nice treat!

We always stop at Lighthouse Bakery at least once while we're vacationing at Dauphin Island. And this place is truly my guiltiest vacation pleasure. I rarely eat sweet pastries but just can't resist the delicious treats they have here. The atmosphere is delightfully non-commercialized & feels like taking a step back in time.
