My family loves their "yard-bird". And you get tired of fast food fried chicken after a while. Champys is certainly not your typical fast food chicken.

I always use their tamales as the excuse to go to Champys. They are really great tasting. I am a little disappointed that it seems they are growing shorter & smaller, but they are still good. The chicken is always so fresh out of the fryer that you get a little melting on the styrofoam plates. The crust is not really thick but nicely crisp. The chicken reminds me of Princes chicken shack in Nashville minus the spice. Champys is a chicken restaurant and they do it well.

The sides are pretty typical and are good enough but
I have to also put in a plug about the tea. I think they do a pretty good job on their sweet tea, So many places don't....

You won't go wrongly Champys if you are looking to grab a nice chicken dinner or some good tamales.

Great place to stop in and eat. Tamales are the best I've ever had and the chicken is to die for. Great blues atmosphere and nice bar to sit and have a drink. Will return every time I pass through Daphne.

The Tamales are just like the ones in the Mississippi Delta. Wrapped in corn husk and spiced just right. Wash them down with a cold draft and blues music in the background makes for a good afternoon in this friendly place. The service is excellent and the prices are very reasonable.
