The Old Cookstove is indeed like a cookhouse out in the woods with an atmosphere of a family get-together (or, a church basement). Look at www.oldcookstove.com for pix, directions and menu.
Although many people think of this as Amish run, it is technically operated by Mennonite family and workers.
There are many items on the buffet so you should find many things you like. We enjoyed pot roast, chicken and dumplings, fried chicken, chicken fried steak, chicken gizzards, meatloaf and fresh sliced baked ham and left other items untried. The perhaps dozen vegetables were great. Biscuits, cornbread, fried corn nuggets, lettuce salad with a dozen add-ons, cakes, ice cream and toppings for dessert were all delicious. I cannot imagine that anyone has ever left hungry. Although open on Friday and Saturday only until 7 PM, they accommodated eaters coming later with plenty of food available and a friendly welcome. [But come early!]
Besides the cost is all inclusive and reasonable. The Old Cook Stove provides a unique and enjoyable experience.
