“Cultural attraction in Recife area”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

Great place to visit in Recife!! If you are interested to get to see some art, history, and one of the most greatest personal weapons collection, worth to spend few ours there. Note: if you are considering to visit Instituto Brennand, drive or take a taxi - public transportation in the area is complicated.

“Interesting”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

The place is very beautifull, but the location is far. With public transport it takes long time (unfortunately Brazil has huge problems regarding public transport). Cost of entrance is expensive (R$18/person).
There you find some exhibition (Guns, Objects, Pictures). There is also a nice garden.
For those tourists with short time I would no recommend.

This institution was founded by the colector Ricardo Brennand and contains every piece of history that he could acquire through his life. It has many art works, artefacts, but specialy one of the largest weaponry collections of the world. If you are an historian, a history lover or you are just visiting the city; it's very advisable that you go there. Also the enviroment is really plesant,

“Collections of painting, sculpture, armory, tapestry, decorative arts and furniture, with objects ranging from Early Mi”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

The Institute was created by Ricardo Brennand, a Brazilian collector and businessman of English ancestry, born in Cabo de Santo Agostinho in 1927. Brennand established several factories in the Northeast Region of the country, acting in the segments of cement, tiles, glass, porcelain and sugar production. He started collecting armory, specially melee weapons, in the 1940s. In the following decades, his collection would grow in size and importance, becoming one of the largest such ensembles in the world.
