Hotel Des Arts Economico
Truly is a 1 star hotel. I think I have stayed in nicer hostels then this. The lobby/main floor of the hotel is warm and nicely decorated. I hope with all the money they got from the WC tourists that they renovate their rooms. This hotel kind of looked like a frat house on each floor. We were here for the World Cup and our Honeymoon. We stayed here in the last week of June and for 4 nights only. In this hotel you will definitely need the 3 prong electric converter. We bought one around the corner from the hotel at a ghetto looking flea market where they sold all kinds of nick nacks.

Let's start with all the bad.
Barely any hot water in our bathroom. Our shower had no shower curtain to keep the water contained in one area. Our room was dark and dingy kind of. The floor tiles is a medium old school green. The walls have been repainted to a taupe/beige colour. The drapes are there and they do block out the light. The lighting in the bedroom area is the bright white psychiatric light bulb lighting… terrible. There is barely any storage in our room and in the bathroom and only two sitting lawn chairs in the room. No bench to at least lay your luggage on. Knowing it was a one star, we brought our own flat sheets and just slept on top of our bed. There is a tube tv mounted on the wall, had some channels to watch but if you need to power it on and off, you need to go up to the tv to do this. The remote on/off button did not work.

The good:
The hotel gave us a nice welcome bottle. There is a mini fridge so you can buy yourself some bevy's and put in your room. There is a safe, but I wouldn't trust it, it may break on you. The bathroom does look relatively clean. They do change the bath towels daily. There is AC in the room so you won't sleep and sweat throughout the night. The hotel staff are great and very helpful, the breakfast is pleasant. The location of the hotel is great. Close to the beach and the market by the church. There is a pharmacy and gas station close by too to buy needed things. Oh there is also a grocery store a few blocks over for more things to get. There is wifi in the hotel. Our room was at the end of the hallway on the 3rd floor, so wifi signal was weak in our room but if you step outside of your room there was full signal. I believe there was a wifi router on each floor. If you were in the lobby, you had great signal. There are also some desktop stations for you to use the internet. There are also some bicycles you can borrow for free to ride around. You need to sign them out of course.

Seeing we were in Brazil at a time where Hotels jacked up their prices and we were going to be in four different cities, we had to cut somewhere and tried this hotel because it was the cheapest at its time of booking. Though it was not a great room to start off our honeymoon, we made the best of it and enjoyed the city/food/people more then our room here in Recife/Boa Viagem.

Coming from a female, I wouldn't recommend it to other females. Maybe if you were here for 2 nights tops, then it's ok… but no more then that.
They do have a sister hotel called Cult Hotel, that one looks newer/fresher…

The lobby and first floor are nice, with free wifi and also several computers available to use. Staff was pleasant. The breakfast was average. The rooms were NOT nice. Our bathroom appeared fairly clean, but had a mixed odor of urine and mold. The bed was not comfortable. There were small ants all over our room. I had a zip lock bag of peanuts that I left in the cupboard. When I returned, the bag was covered with ants. The entire room and bathroom needed a good, deep scrub. If there were any other rooms available during World Cup, I would have never stayed there.

One of the cheapest hotels in Boa Viagem area. It's an easy walk to the beach and a 20-minute stroll to the Shopping Recife.

The lobby area is actually nice and you can use their computers with high speed internet.

The room is awfully dated and it smells like it. The scene doesnt get any better in the bathroom. Sheets and pillows are stained.

The breakfast was quite poor.

I tolerated the stay because it was just for the night and it was cheap. And they did keep my bags safe even after the checkout.

Probably the hotel used to be a really good one 10 years ago! It has changed and you can see the ravages of time everywhere. The pillows and blankets are just graunchy and disgusting.

For world cup guests.... it´s located close to the wonderful beach but far to the soccer stadium(approx. 1 hour by taxi = 60 to 70 Reais).

This hotel is very good located close to the beach of Boa Viagem, just about 5 minutes walk.
The 3 bed room was clean and comfortable, equipped with air condition and fridge. Bathroom was clean, towels were changed daily.
The breakfast was good too. They offered tea, coffee, milk and different variations of fresh food and fruits.
The receptionists were always helpful in order to help us with bus connections and places to visit nearby, e.g. Olinda.

You got also some bars around it, where during the week people are supposed to be, but they were actually less crowded and expensive...
You got also access to internet in the lobby, where you can use the computers.
I won't complain, we had a good stay, only the price for this hotel was a bit too high.
