Though the restaurant is located at Park Street, one of the most costliest area of Kolkata, thetesty food is available at affordable price. Ambiance is excellent. They are specialized in Sizlers and Chelo Kabab. However, if you are in hurry, you should avoid it as food lovers make a long queue at outside. But the queue is well managed by the restaurant authority. One bad thing is that they do not allow table booking advance. Also for group party, they do not allow unless all guest arrives. This is only to manage food lovers.

The food is always of a good standard, priced very well and excellent service. the only drawback is that there is always and I mean always a waiting!! I have had their chelo kebabs-well done and lightly spiced, fish barbeque and various other dishes-will keep coming back for more.Olde world charm at old world prices!

well!! the only cat which is more famous is Mr. Cheshire. No doubt this has become a legend in its lifetime however its not that all to die for and I am from the same city!! First of all 80% people landing up do not know that they are better (mostly) in Indian cuisine and not continental

After 7 years, on insistence from a friend I decided to go to Peter Cat as he could not have it any other way...why? what reviews!! was his answer. However he has not decided for himself and I also thought to put some light without bias on "The Peter Cat". First of all, they are still in 1800s..while waiting and being curtly misbehaved, The man on the door could not speak my name properly though we share the same mother tongue since his tongue has taken to more western names, we were told we cannot be sitted upstairs as it is for "Family" or if one is with a "Female" (not Lady). We happened to be in our corporate attire on a monday evening. Absurd!
However we were given a seat by beside the bar with fancy helmet light (red) which didnt provide much illumination, my friend asked for the "Chello Kebab" which PC is famous for. Not sure why, we were told it is dry take some mutton or chicken gravy (Trust me you do not need it, its dripping with amul butter , you will order but for two the gravy will outlast you).

The service was attended by waiters whose uniforms need to be cleaned or probably its add to the magic of the place since they were stained with curries and other marks, the table silver was in bad shape and the napkins were ironed but not cleaned and we asked them to be changed which happened after repeated proding.

Yes, the Kebabs were good, I didnt like the super buttery rice at all but hey the mutton gravy was overwhelmed with spices and lacked character.

While i really wish the very best to Peter Cat going ahead, please a little more cleanliness, a little more liberal in thinking and a little less attitude please. Darling there are 100 other better north Indian restaurants in the city and 200 other better Kebab houses...so a little sharpness with dose of humility will only do you good. Cheers!

Nothing in Park Street has changed since the early 60s except the great music scene and the caberet which are now non existent. This is the story of the famed Peter Cat Restaurant as well. The carpets, the crockery, cutlery, linen, the metal beer mugs and the waiters have remained the same for 50 years. Surprisingly enough even the menu too is the same. They still serve their signature Chelo Kabab and Shrimp Cocktail. We had these and the Betki Fish grill all of which were pretty ordinary. The old chef who doles out these two famous dishes I am sure has passed it on down to his airs but somewhere its not the same that one had 50 or 40 years back.

The decor too has remained the same and is quite dull and dreary. If you're from the land of Kababs, Delhi, then you will find this place pretty mundane. If youre after kababs then I would recommend you to go to Astor or Floriana. Having said that since the patrons too have remained the same there is no worry on that front to the owners. So for Peter Cat its business as usual to the same clientele year after year.

To summarize, I must say this famed Kolkata landmark restaurant failed to impress me when I visited it after15 years last month. India has moved forward but Peter Cat is still the same except on the way it has lost its luster.

I have been there quite some time back. heard a lot about their Chelo Kebab and other food.

Went with a group of friends on a muggy Sunday noon where people from different part of city gathered to try one of the finest known restaurant in the town.

The experience wasn't as great as expected. It may be a delight for non veg people but for vegetarians it didn't work as well.

First we were made to wait for a long time for table (that's given assuming the large no of ppl looking to dine there). The food wasn't great!
