Th hotel is located well , very happening place. The rooms are old style and not big. The room srvice is good . After dinner one can walk to nearby Balwant restruants for sweet and cup of tea. Near by Jaggu market is famous for traditional stuff at cheaper rate. Over all a good stay. Right value for money.

This is the 2nd time I've stayed in this hotel. Perhaps my original review is on here.

I stayed here because, 1, the location was convenient for me (it's a 3 minute walk to the metro station and easy to tell taxis where to take me) and 2, the price is decent and I know what I'm getting.

This time, I got the smaller room. It was very small. Just one bed and a small bedside table and small desk. The TV worked. So did the hot water. I was on the 6th floor. The elevator stops at the 5th. Room service was relatively quick and adequate. For Indians, it's probably ok. Foreigners shouldn't expect much in the way of continental food. This is the case at just about anywhere you go in Kolkata.

The staff was relatively friendly. In fact too friendly. As is the case with most budget hotels, they think they are giving great service by opening every door I walk through. However, they stand in the door as they are opening. Thus, they make it harder to get through the door because I have to squeeze by them.

AFter a 6 day stay, I asked for a late check out. I said I would check out at 2pm. They said no problem. I arrive back to my hotel at 1pm - in time to shower and finish packing before checking out. The front desk guy gave me a hard time and said check out is noon. I said someone gave permission for a 2pm checkout. They starting ringing up my room at 1:30 while I was packing. Then, they wanted to charge me another full day. I refused to pay.

Also, one night at 1am there was a ton of noise outside my door. After 15 minutes, I walked out to find the next room's door was wide open and 2 guests and one staff were standing around talking and laughing super loud, as if it was the middle of the day. I told them that it was rude to talk so loud and have the door open. They said sorry. But 5 minutes later, they were back at it. I was going to tell the front desk guy, but figured it's not even worth it. The room was about $30 a day. Not top notch. But hard to find something good in this price range.

Room Tip: Don't stay in any 600 level room.

if you are travelling with family or even alone do not expect any kind of hospitality from this hotel. they have out sourced their kitchen and room service is pathetic. managment is least bothered and reception people are not helpful either.
they even charge for hot water to drink .

I've stayed in many hotels in Calcutta. If you're on a budget, the trick is finding a decent hotel, with a decent location, that provides a decent night of sleep. I would consider staying here again.

Location: about a 5 minute walk from the metro, which means easy access to central calcutta via taxi, bus or metro. 5 minutes from AJC Bose Rd. Some small shop nearby to buy water, snacks, dinner, etc. Not many restaurants for foreigners within walking distance of the hotel though. You might have to take the metro to Park Street. Hotel about 8 minute walk from St. Paul's cathedral and the Victoria Memorial.

Room. The room was ok, considering the price (under $50). There was an AC unit, although I didn't use it. Bed mattresses where the thin, soft kind as opposed to what you might typically find in this price range, the thin HARD kind. Beds were small, typical of hotels in this price range. Bathroom was relatively clean and had 24 hour hot water. Bath towels were old and not very soft. Again typical for rooms of this price range in Calcutta. Room size was decent. There was space for my luggage and a closet for clothes.

Service. I was annoyed that after checking in, the bell hop just walked into my room when the door was closed. Didn't even knock first. He just walked in. I went down and complained to the management that a hotel should NOT walk into a guest's room without being invited in. This is typical behavior in low priced hotels in India. Management however, was friendly and attentive. No other problems. They washed my laundry and delivered it on time.

What more to say? Not a bad price. Not a bad location. Not a bad room. I had a quiet night of sleep.

Victerrace hotel has a very good location. It is near Elgin Road and Park Street, which are the posh areas of kolkata. It is a budget accommodation in the heart of the city. The rooms are small and have only basic ammenities like tv and hot water. But the rooms are neat and clean, which is the main concern when I am staying in a budget hotel. The service is average and rather slow. The rooms are cheap and ok for the price we paid. It is not centrally air-conditioned but they have individual ACs in the rooms. They didnt have internet facility. This hotel is always crowded and it is difficult to get a room without prior booking. The reception staff were helpful with our queries.

We usually had breakfast in the restaurant and the food was ok,though slightly expensive. But there are plenty of good restaurants in Park Street which is very near. There is McDonalds and KFC also in Park Street.

This is third time my stay in this hotel on my business trips to Kolkata. Colleagues recommended this as the best fit for the budget around 2500/- per night.

Hotel is well maintained, rooms are clean and beds are neatly dressed. A good restaurent adjacent to hotel, makes a great sense of eating there rather taking food in the hotel which is very congested and roomy.

Ventilation is not there in all 3 rooms during my 3 different stays. Rooms are big enough to feel comfortable. Except a chair nothing is available (No sofa sets for visitors). As the hotel is facing the main road, it is noisy. Room windows are not fully covered. (Even though it is of AC rooms, they are not air tight). There is no wifi. One PC is available at counter on chargable basis.

Ravindra Sadan Metro is close by. Taxi drivers catching the address. They provided old style TV sets. Clarity of the picture is not good. All the 3 times I did not use the room service much. But appeared all the time room boys were avaialable.

It is around 6, 7 KMs from Sealdha station and 45 minutes drive from Airport. Esplande is around 20 minutes drive.

Overall, it is above average hotel for business trips.
