HOTEL SAMILTON

This centrally located hotel is not very large, in fact its best described as compact but has all the services you need. From a strong sturdy wifi system in the room, to great service and polite staff, this hotel has a lot to offer. Their breakfast (which is complimentary) consists of a menu ranging from eggs to order to chole bature and parathas. Its simple food but extremely tasty. The hotel has one main Chinese restaurant which is quite average and for the food they served quite expensive and honestly not really worth it. They have however tied up with two neighbouring restaurants which provide room service to the hotel. Both of those restaurants serve excellent food. A special mention to Don Giovanni that was open for 24hrs and served anything and everything. It's very rare to see a restaurant be able to whip up any dish from any cuisine and also a great initiative from the hotel to tie up with these restaurants that will deliver to the rooms directly.

They have complimentary snacks in the room which is a lovely gesture and even though water or soft drinks taken from the mini bar is chargeable it isn't exorbitantly priced as other hotels when you pay for the mini bar.

The only real drawback to the hotel is their old style bathroom fittings need to be updated a little and they need to do away with the mug and bucket system. They have a nightclub downstairs and charge Rs500 for a single person despite staying at the hotel which I thought is ridiculous. It's one thing to charge a person but not if they are a guest at the hotel.

Hotel Samilton was very conveniently located and I had a very pleasant stay there. i do recommend it to everyone.

Hotel Samilton has improved a lot in their services. Staff are now more courteous and started taking feedback very passionately. Honest about what is good about them and what is not. I saw a very different service standards all together. Clean rooms and good in room complimentary refreshment snacks and great breakfast at their hotel Copper Chinno. Whats more is that they now allow Hotel guests to enjoy Disco at The Basement.

Room Tip: Choose Higher floors if you are a early bed goer as it will help not to get disturbed with Disco Mus...

Stayed in this hotel for 3 days and experienced so many things....Power failure, Bed bugs, delayed room service (Got coffee after 1 hour of ordering). Breakfast was good. Tariff was high for these rooms. 12 noon check out timings.

Room Tip: have a look at the room before you check-in

I was booked in a suite, but the room was not clean. What I didn't like the most was it smelled of the cigarate smoke. The breakfast spread was just about ok and the staff was not really helpful. The property happens to be good and located in the center of the city, but not maintained well.

Room Tip: Go here only if you dont get anything else!

I stayed in this hotel recently and found it is one of the best option available in central Kolkata. Room was spacious and had all basic amenities (except Tea/coffee maker). Staff was very courteous and always ready to help you. I found 2-3 issues in this hotel..
1. Wash room was very old style and needs to be renovated immediately.
2. Bedding should be more comfortable.
3. AC was not working properly. I didnt find any issue with AC cooling because i stayed there in Feb month but in summer you feel uncomfortable.
Breakfast was complimentary and very tasty. I loved stuffed 'Paranthas' there.
Overall I would like to recommend this hotel to my fellow travelers but please check food prices at restaurant also before placing order for room delivery. It seems that they had contract with adjoining two restaurants for room service.

We were originally booked in this hotel for 6 days. We stayed only for one night - we were just dead tired that we had no energy left to look for another hotel.

We stayed in their supposedly super deluxe room - it was spacious but it was old with writings on the wall. The bed was well fixed which was fine but the bathroom was old and the fixtures were rusty. There was a bath tub but imagine a pail and dipper in the bath tub for us to use.

There was complimentary breakfast but the waiters were not well groomed... and the buffet table was covered with old newspapers rather than linens...
The pathway also from the hotel going to the restaurant looked like a back door that you would suspect if your food is even clean.

Wifi connection is not available in our room - because signal is not enough to reach our unit.

Though the staff were very nice, I will not go back there.
