We enjoyed our stay at the VIP International.
It has a fantastic position near Park Street, which allows easy exploring of the city.
The rooms although small are very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The bathroom was one of the best we stayed in in India.
The breakfast buffet is served in the bar area, which is slightly bizarre, but the food although basic was acceptable.
Some of the staff are helpful, although we did encounter a very unhelpful lady on reception when we asked for directions. It didn't matter there were lots of other people willing to help us.

The place is located near to the famous park street area in kolkata which makes it really helpful.
The rooms were small but manageable. The man at the service desk was helpful. The room and the bathroom were tidy and clean. The rates were slightly higher than other hotels in the area.

It's 4am and I'm in a taxi headed for Park st. The place where all the hotels are in Kolkata, or so I'm told. I have a reservation for another hotel, but check-in isn't for another 8 hours, so I'm stuck with either a.) sleeping on the sidewalk with my bags b.) sleeping at some 24 hour cafe or something, or c.) paying 50 USD or something similar to that for a room for the next few hours. Options a and b are out of the question, so I'm stuck with finding a room for the next few hours.

I arrive at this place, and I get a room for rs3000 (about 50USD). The room is actually better than expected and I'm sleeping in no time. I had a quick breakfast in the morning which was OK, and I'm checked out by 1pm.

This room was pretty clean. Staffs even left a fruit plate for me before I checked out, which was a big surprise, and they replenished the water twice. Shower was good and the bathroom was clean.

The rest of the hotel was quite worn and needed some help. Keep in mind that this is Kolkata, and not, say, Copenhagen.

We reserved 3 rooms but canceled 2 rooms while check in and shifted to other hotel. And on the 2nd day 3 rd rooms was also canceled. Rooms were small, not clean, smelly and over priced. There isn't fixed charge for the rooms. We paid 3000 rupees/ night and my friends paid 2100 rupees/ night. Hotel staffs are very rude and not friendly at all.

As per the location of the hotel , the rates and the service is average. The rooms are really small but are neat and tidy. The service is good but can be much better. I was really pissed of by there breakfast spread . Though complimentary , you can find a good buffet breakfast in any other hotel in this range but here they stick to 3-4 items max. I would suggest to look for any other hotel in the same budget , keeping this as a 2nd option in mind.

Well this is world's most pathetic hotel I have ever been into, they have no class though they will try to influence you by sayin that we will provide you this and that. My mistake was I went with the words and made the payment without seeing the room. Once the payment was made and suddenly their attitude changed and from important guest I became an ordinary guest.

Rooms are so pathetic that you can't even compare it with any third class lodge and the staffs are so ill mannered that sometimes you will love to slap them.

In one word horrible hotel with worst management.
