Great for Colonial History enthusiasts! Do read up the history of British in Bengal before visiting if you want to imbibe the ambience.

You will find many monuments of historical importance all round the premises. Very few calcuttans have visited this place. But it is a must see for all.

First of all St. John's Church - 1787 is the third oldest church in Kolkata only next to the Armenian and the Old Mission Church.

Job Charnock Mausoleum - is now regarded as a national monument. His tomb is made from a kind of rock named after him as Charnockite.

Rohilla Monument - 1817 this domed cenotaph honours British losses at the 2nd Rohilla War of 1794.

The Black Hole Monument - Holwell had erected a tablet on the site of infamous Black Hole to commemorate the victims, but at some point before 1822 it disappeared. Lord Curzon, on becoming Viceroy, noticed that there was nothing to mark the spot and commissioned a new monument at 1902, mentioning the prior existence of Holwell's Monument.

Very few people of Kolkata visits this place, except perhaps the photographers who likes to capture the city's glorious past in 35mm. Otherwise also known as Stone Church was made from the medieval ruins of Gaur. The whole complex has many monuments of historical importance the most famous being the monument commemorating Black Hole of Kolkata.
