Manjit is the man.. I took a European tour which was a amazing walk around the Dalhousie square. It's an excellent way to discover and learn about the history behind the city of joy. The early morning walk when the streets are empty and the traffic is negligible is the best time to do the walk. Manjit has in depth knowledge about the history and photography. If u r not a Indian then u must take this tour and if u r a Indian then it gives you all the more reasons to take this tour. Not to be missed.

Even though I grew up in calcutta I spent a fascinating few hours with Manjit my husband sethu and our 8 year old son.... Armenians, parsis,Jews, chinese , Europeans, North Indian traders.... Each had their unique identity and space carved out in the city. Do try one of manjits tours....he has lived in the neighbourhood and is very much a part of it.....

Whilst Manjit is an excellent photographer and patient teacher, making sure that you get the best shots possible, to suggest that the tours were "just" photographic tours would be doing them a great disservice. We Garrived in Kolkata late on Saturday night after a frustratingly journey of over 24 hours from England - suddenly a 6.30 start on Sunday morning did not see such a good idea! However, we had booked up and so set off to meet Manjit at the prescribed time and place. From the moment he arrived our spirits were lifted and whilst on both days we had booked for a 3 hours tour we found at the end we had been 4 hours and yet it seemed less than 2. This wash due entirely to the wonderfully interesting ways in which Manjit introduced us to sights and experiences that we would never have seen without his help. Furthermore the whole experience was a conversation rather than any form of lecture tour. Quite simply if you nothing else in Kolkata please join Manjit on one of his tours we guarantee you will not be disappointed!

First day in India we did this tour and was a great way to ease our way in and learn a bit about India and in particular Kolkata. Manjit was a fantastic tour guide, very friendly and informative, who gave us a great insight into Kolkata history and helped us take some great photo shots. It was good fun with lots of laughs and would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kolkata.

My boyfriend and I took to "European Kolkata Tour" organized and guided by Manjit and to state this right from the start this was the best thing which we did during our visit in Kolkata! Even beforehand, communication and organization was great and Manjit was very helpful. We had to get up very early for the tour but it was worth all efforts as the city was so calm and quiet during the morning and the light was wonderful. We walked around the area around BBD Bagh and Manjit had a story to tell about each of the buildings which we could see and also about the people who are living and working there. Manjit is a great story-teller and seems to know everything about Kolkata ;-) I also liked his way of bringing history to life (still feeling sad for poor old Charles, bitten by a mosquito way too early...) and his great sense of humour. We just had a great time together with Manjit and he showed us so many things which we would never have seen without him. Manjit also gave us very helpful tipps for photography, he has an exceptional eye for details. All in all, this was a great experience which I would recommend to everyone who visits Calcutta!
