This place has so much history associated with it! The Thakurs were one of the most influential families of Kolkata, Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore being the most famous member, but there were others equally talented like him, for example the great painters Gaganendranath and Abanindranath. The house is located on the oldest street of Kolkata: Chitpur road, now called Rabindra Sarani, a very congested road, but you have to be there to feel the real Kolkata. Lots of historical places are within walking distance from here and great sweet shops (famous Bengali mishti)!!!

Rabindranath, the great poet, his house at Kolkata, the great attraction for all... a large no. of tourists visit everyday. The Thakur dalan, stairs, the rooms, long verandahs, etc, etc.. are great historical attractions...
the structural attractions are there, but the overall areas are not well maintained to international level, the approach road is not in good condition, the gardens around Thakur bari are not well decorated, sometimes might be done, but not in regular practice...
a big scope is there to attract tourists from all over the world if it is well maintained, decorated and of course marketed in large scale....
