I am writing to express my profound appreciation for the customer service and love my wife and I received during my stay at Oberoi Grand, Kolkata in October 2019. Members of the Food and Beverage and Housekeeping were exceptional in their efforts to make sure our stay and experience exceeded our expectations on all fronts. We must say all their efforts to anticipate our needs and desires in advance and then act quickly to meet those needs were grounded in something greater than what their regular call of duty required of them. It made a real difference in our lives, and it could not have happened had the members of the team not worked together.
One of the very first - and most important - steps the team of Food and Beverage and Housekeeping did during my stay was to create an atmosphere of personal care and attention that focused on providing exceptional customer service. It was clear to us that all the members of the team have been well-trained to not only understand the Oberoi’s overarching goals of excellent service and hospitality but also to exceed customers’ expectations. Through personal interactions and a friendly attitude, they were able to discover what we need, want, and expect, thereby assisting us accordingly to enhance our experience. In fact, my wife and I were was so thrilled with the affection we received throughout our stay, that tears rolled down my eyes when I was served lunch at the 363 Restaurant located on the hotel premises) before checking out. It was a special moment for us and we will remember it.
From a holistic perspective, I believe that the team’s knowledge of my needs and preferences, and their intentional efforts/thoughts and focus to engage with me and my wife at a personal level, and being adaptable to my emerging, everyday needs during my stay, extended far beyond the boundaries of traditional criteria customer service we generally see at many other 5-star hotels around the world. Our experience at Oberoi Grand was so memorable. It reinforced the basic principles and hallmarks of excellent customer service, i.e. truly understanding the needs, wants, and emotions of customers and acting in a timely manner to meet those needs. Yes, our stay was like our second home and we would like to come back to experience the outstanding hospitality in the future.
