A well equiped and managed Business hotel in Kolkata. Situated in the heart of the city and really a good value for money. The room cleanliness and furnishing is very good and modern. The Buffet breakfast is fine need improvement.

Room Tip: All rooms are good.

Rooms are very clean and comfortable with nice complimentary Breakfast. Located at prime location close to the market which allows you to spend some leisure time moving around picking things. It was good overall experience.

The hotel continues to be good value for money because of its location, clean and commodious accommodation and great food despite recent change in name. The food in the restaurant Dawwat E Shiraz is awesome both in quality and quantity.

Someone at Trip Advisor needs to realize that this hotel is now known as the Hotel Shiraz. It is no longer the Hotel Tulip (though it might help to tell your cabbie Tulip when leaving the airport). At any rate, this is one first class property at a great price (shop it around since the hotel website price is beatable). The staff is superb and my request for a quiet room was met graciously. So I give up a city view for a tenement view, but practically feel like I'm out in the country given how quiet certain rooms are (I'm in 307, a twin). The beds are of Western standard and the bathrooms to die for. Instant hot water, rain showers, an attractive raised sink, great wifi, a fridge, a safe, a 47" flat screen with a gazillion channels and an interesting neighborhood that represents everything from rich to poor in Calcutta.. There are even reading lights next to each bed (yeah, that may not seem like a big deal in the West, but it is in this part of the world). I'm sorry I only get to stay here three nights. $40 buys you little in this town....spend a bit more and luxuriate a bit. Oh, and did I not mention the free buffet breakfast?
While there's a reasonable restaurant on premises, be advised that there's also some great street food in the area if you dare.

Room Tip: Anything in the back is good. The hotel faces two major streets, so try to get positioned away from...

Complimentary breakfast was good !.
Rooms are very clean , comfortable.
The receptionist is kind, well descent and gentle.
Nearby restaurants was costly and hence had to shed a lot for lunch and dinner.

My overall experience was good.

Newish hotel in an old area of Kolkata. On Park Street, very near to main attractions.

Rooms were clean, comfortable and attractively decorated in brown and cream colours. Very good bed and choice of pillows. However, the fit out shows poor workmanship skills, and the use of poor quality fittings. The bathroom is starting to show signs of wear and tear. Waste water in the shower did not drain away fast enough, and began to flood the bathroom floor. We notified reception. Workmen were sent promptly to clear the blockage.

Exceptional breakfast foods in an attractive dining room. Varied selection of choices available, Indian and western. Something or everyone. Also had room service in each evening as we were unwell. Meals arrived in 20 minutes - hot and delicious.

All hotel staff were attentive, polite and welcoming.

Free wifi.

We were placed in room 201, which was at the front of the hotel facing the street. It was exceptionally noisy from car horns from very early morning until late evening.

Would definitely stay here again, but would request a room at the back of the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the street are very noisy.
