This may be India’s only Chinatown but it’s run-down, dirty or even downright dangerous. The neighbourhood was populated by 20,000 ethnic Chinese during the colonial era but only 2,000 or so remain. Not vibrant like Chinatown in North American or Southeast Asian cities, its dark alleys are now home to some passable Indian-Chinese eateries but it’s hardly worth the long taxi ride from other parts of Kolkata.

Cheap food- check
Cheap booze- check
Cheap ambiance - check
Shady crowd- check
Authentic Chinese food- I have not been to China to really experience the real stuff but I have been to lot of high end and mid range Chinese restaurants and enjoyed good "chinese" or "indochinese" food. This in my opinion was quite substandard Indian chinese food. Maybe it was a wrong choice of restaurant, but I had read fantastic reviews of the place.
The fact the rest room was extremely dirty and the staff again rude and uninterested did not help the experience. I would rather spend money and go to a good chinese restaurant instead of trying any similar place and save money.

one of the must visit places in kolkata if you are a foodie.not too many options if you are a vegetarian but if you have the taste for a slightly different kind of chinese from what the 5 stars serve you must try and visit .top places to try would be kim fa , kim ling, and golden joy .liqour is cheap and you can take your family safety not an issue but transport is particularly in the night so its better if you hire a car .quantity is huge so you could try more items if you are in group.regarding so called smell of tanneries on the roads that was long back and anyways all tanneries have been shifted out of the area
