Have you realised, more often than not, we know so little about the city we inhabit and seek to learn more about places far & beyond?
Heritage & culture go hand in hand with the chaos and bustle of most of the parts of Kolkata, but if you just stop for a moment and gaze intently at some of the derelict structures you can actually be transported into an era, a Raj gone by. That is exactly what Iftehkar uncovered for us one Sunday morning in his carefully curated "Footsteps of the Raj- Dalhousie square" walk. The walk was not so much about learning something new-we all have gone through our share of history- as it was about putting things in the right perspective: Our own. At many points we halted to have long discussions on different points of views and relevance in today's world, not many seemed to draw a conclusion- but they most certainly added another dimension to what we knew or so far considered sacro sanct! There is much to be un learned& much to be understood and this is an amazing way to start your own journey of discovery. I strongly recommend this for anybody who loves history or loves Kolkata :-)
