For our stay in Kolkata (the city where our trip through India started) we used these apartments.
The word is correct: it is an apartment, in which some rooms (with their private bathrooms) are used for hospitality, while others rooms are used as a residence for the host family. The breakfast (appreciable, and for which you can still indicate your preferences) takes place in the living room, which in other hours is used for the family's stay.
All this gives a sense of intimacy and authenticity; you really share spaces with a middle class Indian family.
I add that the rooms are impeccable, as are their bathrooms.
The price we paid was the equivalent of 71 euros for two nights in a double room.
A warning: the apartments are located (3rd floor; elevator) in a condominium in which the common parts (stairs, entrance halls) are tired and ugly. But don't be impressed by these details: inside the apartments the reality is completely different.
Even the street where the apartment is located (Ripon Street) isn't appreciable according to European standards; but in reality we are close to one of the best areas of Kolkata, that of Park Street, appreciable because it's very lively and provided with good restaurants.
In short, our stay in Kolkata was satisfactory, thanks to this facility.More
