Owner description: With a capacity of 24 - 53 and equipped with a television and FM radio, the AC and Non AC tram runs four rides daily to the north and south of the city. Each ticket costs includes snacks. A lot is often heard about Kolkata's dwindling traffic system and how its age-old trams, means of transport that are still existing only in this part of India, are adding to the commuters' woes. There have even been talks of doing away with old tram cars for good and redesign the city's traffic network. However, trams are still plying in Kolkata and measures are being taken to resuscitate the 133-year-old Calcutta Tramways Company. Take a ride in one of these AC or Non AC trams early morning this week and get a taste of old Kolkata's magical heritage. Call or email Trips & Tours to book your seats. You can book the whole tram if you wish.

the trams of Calcutta offer for a few pennies a ride into the heritage and history of this amazing city that withstood the clash of the east and west with amazing dignity ... and came out with a unique blend of culture .... all of its own ....

ride in the front cabin to enjoy the breeze from the fans or the rear one if you want to see what travelling second class is like ....

all in all a joyride not to be missed when exploring the many facets of calcutta

I had read about trams in my school days but got a chance to travel once. Really liked the experience, the pace is slow and good leisure activity. This is again person dependent, you also need a lot of time to spend here hence plan up well on time.

We took a trip from the centre of Kolkata out to the suburbs. As a mean Yorkshireman I saved half a rupee by going second class. Wonderful experience. On the trip back in to the city centre we came up behind a tram that had been derailed and were left to our own devices to get back into town. A taxi cost about a pound including tip.
An absolutely memorable part of our trip to India. All credit to the City of Kolkata for keeping this system going.

Kolkata Trams,a must for any visitor. It is a medium of transport, but I would prefer to call it a tourist attraction, cause If you are in a hurry, you will never reach in time!A slow ride, full of fun and nothing else.Ticket is nominal and it is rarely congested.

I was brought up in Kolkata and i remember traveling on the trams with my folks. To be fair, if you're looking to get somewhere in a hurry, this isnt the way you should travel. But if you want to travel down memory lane, a kolkata tram will let you do exactly that! Those wooden seats and the conductor's rope bell make you feel like u're in the 60s! Its a fun journey for sure but the trams are not there everywhere in calcutta. I'd suggest you take a ride on a tram before they stop running them altogether!
