The hotel is far from the airport, but centrally located for the purposes of business or shopping. It consists of two blocks designed in contrasting styles, both pre-Independence British and modern Indian. The blocks are separated by a landscaped garden, which is covered and where we can relax in the evenings. The restaurant is located on the ground floor and we can have a relaxed dinner outside on the lawn, listening to live western music. The music is usually the Golden Oldies and a treat for anyone over 35.
The rooms are spacious, especially those in the old wing, which remind you of the huge British bungalows of pre-Independence era.
The service is the one sore point on an otherwise enjoyable stay. It is equally bad in the restaurant and the rooms service. So be prepared to wait awhile after placing your order.
There is no pool in the hotel, which would definitely add to its value.

We spent a day at The New Kenilworth in Kolkata. This purpose of our trip was to celebrate my son's birthday, who has turned '4.' We had booked the lawn in the hotel to host a birthday party for his friends and some of ours, comprising a guest list of 150 people. Such a charming garden! The best location that I could spot in Kolkata.

The management at the hotel took very good care of us and made sure all arrangements for the party were perfect. The food was great and the service impeccable.

I would also highly recommend the coffee shop ' aromas.' We had the buffet lunch there which was quiet good. Overall our experience at The New Kenilworth was unforgettable.

Had to stay in the hotel for a business trip for a night .
Well located hotel, easy to find & check in process was fairly brisk .
The staff were courteous , but stiff . The room was small , cosy & the hotel obliged with my choice of multiple pillows , after a mild demur as had asked for 3 varieties !The room interior was neat, but the woodwork gave the impresson of cheap Chinese kind of woodwork!
To my horror I found a list of containing prices for bathing towels ,ashtrays ,bathing robes on the TV table , prominently displayed , probably to dissuade the 'cutlery pincher', but found the entire idea in extremely bad taste !
The pub, 'Bigben' was a revelation, with good ambience , nice music & attentive staff !

Though far from the airport, the hotel is centrally located. The building is designed in the old world style with the two blocks seperated by a landscaped garden. The restaurent is located on the ground floor and in the evenings one can have a relaxed dinner outside on the lawn, listening to live western music. Most of the songs are oldies, so be prepared to go back to the 70s and 80s. The service is pretty slow compared to the rest of the ambiance and food quality, and as a result, a dinner can extend to over and hour. This will be a problem only if you are in a hurry.
Markets are nearby and within walkable distance.
The rooms are spacious, expecially the rooms on the old wing, with generous use of lovely woodwork.
