“Authentic Bengali Cuisine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2013

Whenever my out of town friends come to visit and they want a taste of authentic cuisine this is my go to place. And they have never failed to dissapoint. From steamed hilsa to katla, great kati rolls, luchis, succulent mutton all mouthwater delicacies. The atmosphere and service is also very good.

“Classic Bengali Specialities”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2013

This restaurant offers outstanding bengali cuisine in great ambiance with fine service. I have visited the ones in Forum Mall and in Spring Club several times with family and friends. The "bhappa Ilish" (Steamed Hilsa) seved wrapped in banana leaf is out of the world. The "Malai Chingri" ( Prawns in Cream sauce) and "Dab Chingri" ( Prawns cooked in Coconut water) have great flavor and are incredibly.soft. My wife is vegetarian but loves the "suktho" a traditional side dish with drumsticks that go well with rice and "Luchis" - fried soft white bread. The liquor selection is good and so are the typical bengali deserts that are favorite world wide. I recommend the place for foreigners as the food is only mildly spicy with lot of flavor.

“Best Indian food I've had”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2013

Oh! Calcutta is a spotless, well-mannered restaurant with wonderful staff and amazing food. If it was near my house I would eat there every day.

I ordered a feast - banana leaf croquettes, smoked hilsa, braised lamb and luchis. Everything was wonderful. I think you could probably order anything on the menu and not be disappointed.

It's pricey, but I think you get what you pay for. Highly highly recommended.

“Could have been better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2013 via mobile

I was disappointed with the Hilsa festival . Some items were not available like the Hilsa cheese baked. If the festival is on and it is a part of the menu, it should have been served. Rest of the food ( ala carte ) was average. The mutton and luchi was great and even the tender coconut payesh was also not bad.
