For all the hype and the queue to get in, I expected much better from Flurys. The interior is fairly grand by Kolkata standards but could be a lot cleaner. We wanted a cream tea but were told they were out of scones. So, for around 315 rupees each, we went with afternoon tea. The tea itself was good but the tiny, soggy cucumber sandwich and the two pieces of cake that went with it were not great. The cakes looked rather beat up and had little black flecks on them. Also, the fruit tart promised on the menu didn't materialize - in its place was a cream cake with a couple of pieces of fruit on top. The service was pretty terrible - the waiters just dumped the food on the table and ran off without so much as a smile. Greatly over-hyped and overpriced. The owners ought to take a long hard look at how they run the place if they want to maintain their reputation.

Went around 7 pm on a weekday. Had to wait almost an hour to get a place to sit. Had heard a lot about the place and seeing the long waiting myself was even more supporting to the positive image of flurys in my mind.

The food is very basic. I did not have the appetite for deserts after what I ate ( toast with beans which was highly recommended by the waiters inside ) but still tried their peach Melba......that too was ok sorts nothing great.

All I can say please do not go with very high expectations and please note it is not cheap.

The tea and the breakfast bit is alright but the cakes and pastries are a disaster. They don't know their coffee either. And for the price one pays, it certainly not worth even half of it. They're just cashing in on the nostalgia / heritage value and the fact that virtually Zero competition in that segment. Wake up Kolkattans - Smell the Coffee!!!

Was just too normal. Nothing extraordinary about the place. Fitting in oonchi dukaan, feeka pakwan. Bad service, average food.
