Hotel Seven Seventeen is a good place to stay.
The rooms are good and have a traditional look. The main drawback is that the hotel is located in the market area.
Overall, a good choice to stay.

We stayed 6 nights in this very pleasant hotel. Well situated in the heart of the town but away from the tourist area the hotel is bright and colourful with its traditional Tibetan design.
The rooms are simple, but very clean and comfortable. The one we had at the top had a lovely view over the town and the mountains.
We ate all our meals at the restaurant of the hotel. The menu was varied and included local specialities, which were delicious.
The Tibetan family, who owns it, is very helpful and make every guest feel very welcome. In particular we enjoyed the special attention and informative conversations with them.

Very friendly people, make you feel good. Clean hotel, nice rooms. Very special paintings on the walls, beautiful. The owner is Tibetan, she invited us to see her special prayerroom, on top of the building. She explained us everything about her religion, with a lot of patience. This special threatment we will never forget. Thanks a lot for the perfect stay! Greetings from the motorbikers from Holland! Love, Mischa

Everything about the hotel was excellent, Food was excellent , service also the best,Very Clean hotel,Room service delivered food in quickest possible time.
We grately enjoyed our stay and I recommend this hotel to all.
My special thanks to Mrs Yeshi for being there to make us feel at home.
The gift shop was also the best Generally people tend not buy from the hotel gift shop but this shop was exclusive as the prices for items in this shop were lower than the one on MALL road.I urge the travelers to purchase their souvenirs from this shop. Thank you once again to the Owners & staff for making our stay a sweet remembrance.

We have returned from our family getaway to Kalimpong, Gangtok, Nepal & Darjeeling. In the extreme heat during April/ May Darjeeling was one place that my parents & I really thiught that would help us enjoy a holiday and keep us cool. As it was a last minute plan we did have to chip in a good amount for the flights but in the end we thought it was all worth it. Out of all the places we visited as we thought Darjeeling was really a welcome change, it was freezing in MAY, we checked in Seven Seventeen. This is a hotel amidst the busy market place but is close from all the required locations and walkable from a few of the tourist places. The market is a walk away and the station etc, is just 20/25 mts. The hotel room that we checked in was the only room that had 3 beds, what one would want is a decent place to sleep at night after the long day travelling/sight seeing etc. and this was perfectly what we got. Although my Mum did not approve the hotel at first due to its dark red/orange colours, The hotel gave us a flavour of East India and had a rich culture for the same. The food also was very delicious and served as per our required customisation. The Shahi fish at this hotel is a must eat, its a big boneless fish in red curry and finger licking good. The rooms are spacious, with hot water promised 24 hours but one would get it for approximately 20 hours. In case you want to connect to the news or watch your favourite TV show/movie you are provided with a good colour TV with the cable connection. The staff is cooperative and maintain the required hygiene that one requires.

The hotel has about five floors and has suites on the fifth floor.

The fifth floor also has a sitting area where the map of Darjeeling and antiques of this place are kept on display.

Overall I would say this is probably the best hotel of our trip.

Darjeeling is a BEAUTIFUL place and so is hotel Seven Seventeen, in case you go to Darjeeling you should visit this place.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Seven Seventeen and found it very relaxing and homely after having spent some days in Delhi in more chaotic surroundings. The hotel owners were very nice and helpful and so was the staff at the reception. We were invited to use the owners library/sitting room on the top floor at any time. The top floor has an excellent view on the Khangchendzonga peaks. We had dinners at the hotel restaurant and the food was quite good. Indoors we had to wear warm jackets as it was rather cool, but at night the hotel provided us with hotwater bottles. Highly appreciated. We were very satisfied with our stay at the Seven Seventeen and - if ever we go back to Darjeeling we would absolutely choose this hotel again.
