We had stayed for 2 nights in July '12. The food was good, their service was amazing & we got whatever we ask for our group. The rooms also have a good view of kanchendzonga. But the worst roads In Darjeeling disappointed our travel. Over all very cool & homely stay for us. We enjoyed our stay.

To start with, It is not 3-star level hotel if you consider the rooms, food, etc ..but the hotel as run by a family gave a homely feeling..

Rooms-
the rooms are small but cozy .. n the ones having the kanchenjunga view to its right are gud .. ours was room 314 ..
there is this market area at the backside of the hotel along with some temple or monastery.. thus its mostly noisy .. but trust me, those prayers you get to hear from that are not troublesome..
the bathrooms could have been cleaner

Staff-
the staff is really co-operative .. n friendly ..:)

Food- breakfast offered is really good.. lunch can be improved and dinner is gud

The "best part" of the hotel is this small shop in the dinning area run by 2 sweet ladies ..
it is very attractive with variety of scarfs .. bags .. n yaa those chinese fans!
I stayed with my family there for 3 days-nights ..and evry breakfast-lunch-dinner was followed by shopping !
and those beautiful painting inside the hotel .. especially in the dinning area are amazing.. giving tibetan feeling!

the hotel is situated in a market place .. so those who want it calm and quite .. this one is not for you!

P.S - The scarfs you get in that shop are of better quality and way too cheaper than those you get in the market outside.. :P

We had stayed for 4 days during first week of Feb, 2012. Starting with Tibetan ambient and warm help from Hotel Owner was appreciable. We had stayed at 1 floor at 1st night and then shifted to top floor where view of valley is incredible.Since, it was cold weather there, I requested for 1 hot water bag and a extra heater. With deep concern about our stay and health, they provided 2 water bags and warm water every night for drinking purpose. I am very much impress by the treatment and hospitality from Lady in house. We were enlighten by their sharing of custom and culture of Tibet. Also, stay budget is also reasonable. Here, you can roam around the Darjeeling, the hotel is located at heart of city and reachable for every hot spot.

Room Tip: Ask to Hotel Owner, if you have any trouble. It is really helpful to talk directly to Owner rather than staff over there. Roof top rooms are audible but the views are excellent at early morning. Room service is late but it is expected at top floor with no lift.

If you would like a cozy, friendly, homely place to stay at in Darjeeling with reasonable prices your choice should be Hotel Seven Seventeen.
We were lucky to get a nice room there in April 2012. The hotel which is owned by two charming tibetan couples is well located in the center of Darjeeling and has a gourgeous view over Kanchenjunga if only the weather is clear.
The hotel have nice rooms, a cozy library and a good restaurant , which offers traditional tibetan dishes just as well as indian and western dishes.
We would strongly recommend this hotel to our friends because of the friendly athmosphere by the tibetan owner families and the whole staff.

I enjoyed my brief stay at this hotel. It was a reasonable price, and the staff were friendly and professional. The hotel is very quaint, and tibetan, and had many Tibetan artifacts and small exhibitions in the public areas. I was staying on the top floor, and the room had a lovely view out over the Chowk Bizarre markets, and the hills around Darjeeling.

I found the room to be clean, and comfortable. I also enjoyed a nice meal in the restaurant, and the waiters were very attentative.

The hotel does have a lot of stairs, which might be an issue for some guests if they are on a high floor. I enjoyed this aspect personally. The hot water does take a while to draw to the room, and as there are signs in the bathroom asking not to wast water, it would be a good idea if the hot and cold water taps were labelled clearly. I had to call reception to confirm which tap was the hot water tap, which was a little annoying.

All in all, this is a nice little hotel in Darjeeling, and had a nice homely atmosphere, and the staff were service focused. I would recommend this hotel for those wanting a comfortable stay, at a reasonable price.

Room Tip: Rooms on high floor facing back of hotel have lovely views
