Our room was clean, comfortable and the view was lovely. The food was delicious and some continental options. The surrounding gardens are beautiful and well cared for - I can't understand how there were so many flowers in the middle of winter ! The staff are helpful, and ready to assist at all times. I was very cold most of the time, but due to my not bringing appropriate clothing - the heaters in the room just took the chill off the air, the only warm place was in the exquisite library or in the restaurant. Hot water was not in abundance, but apparently there was a water shortage which is just the reality of the area. The bed was a warm toasty haven, complete with hot water bottle, which the staff place in the bed around 8pm. It was a very welcome find ! The Mayfair location is close to all the attractions and it is easy to walk to everything.

Room Tip: A room with a view is best, high up as well.

Nice and clean place for a comfortable stay. Location is good as it is walking distance from the mall. View of the mountain ranges is very nice and pleasing. Food spread was good and varied. Staff was courteous. There was cultural dance program one evening which was enjoyable.

Great decor and traditional charm of the Maharaja. Located just 5 minutes walking from Chowrasta and 25 minutes the other way to the Zoo and Himalayan Mountain Institute and a little further to the ropeway. The complementary breakfast and dinner is a great way to meet other travellers and find activity ideas for the following day. The rooms are very comfortable especially cozy with fireplaces in each room. Housekeeping will build/stoke your fire on call and delivers hot water bags to pre-warm your bed while you eat dinner. The view out the window is of the Darjeeling valley and spectacular on a clear day. Just a 100m across the road is an even better view of Kachajunga.

We were on Family holiday to North W.B. & Sikkim. We checked in at 7.30 P.M.on 26.12.2013. They welcome us with a Hot Flavoured Tea,Silk Mufler & Hot Towels, It was love at first sight. We stayed in Orchid Villa. The room was well decorated traditionally, with all the modern amenities. They have provided two room heaters in each rooms.Though it is hard to satisfy every one but Chef Kailash was serving and trying to please each customers,in the Bar Tapan was serving every one with his ever-smiling face and at last you will never find as enthusiastic waiter as Anken. Thanks for serving & making our Holiday Starting a memorable one.
