We had the best of our time here in darjeeling, the location is the best thing about this guest house as it is near to the chowrasta and still a quite place away from all the hussle, the owner is a really good person and services are also good, all the balconies have a good view and the rooms are well spaced for a homely atmosphere. If you want to enjoy the views of the kanchenzonga then I would advice you to go in the month of september-october. If you want to have an experience different from all the posch hotels and want to feel at home then this is best place.

I just spent two and a half months in beautiful Darjeeling staying at the Classic Guest House. What a joy. It is in a very convenient location just off the square but still a wonderful oasis of quiet. A lovely large room with an amazing view of the hills and a little balcony for outside space. Mr. Singh and his staff couldn't do enough to help me and make my stay comfortable. I felt very safe which is important when travelling on your own. Whether it's for a night, week or a month I would strongly recommend the Classic Guest House.

First up - that pic on the TripAdvisor page for this guest house does not do it justice! Despite being just off the Chowrasta and the Mall Road, its a quiet place and overlooks a pretty valley and hills beyond, oblivious of the otherwise congested Darjeeling.

Rajen Singh is a very affable, helpful gentleman who also runs a bookshop next to Keventer's. The staff is helpful and friendly too (except for one little thing we ran into, but Mr.Singh apologized for that). The place has been renovated carefully to not lose its old world character. The library is pretty good if you're on a long trip. The lack of a functional kitchen/pantry does hurt a bit since Darjeeling sleeps early, and especially if its raining outside. They could have also provided wifi as a complimentary service but its not too much, at a nominal 100/- paid one time.

If you're staying there - there's good tea available at the Chowrasta even at 6:30am, and a guy who gets awesome Alu Paranthas for breakfast.

We recommend this place especially if you're looking to explore Darjeeling on foot - its very well located for that.

Room Tip: Pick the older rooms - they're the charming ones. Especially the one with the brass switches.

We stayed three nights in this hotel and had a great time. It is a stones throw away from the mall. No traffic to contend with and people do follow rules so even the odd bike was seen to be hand held and rolled on the mall.

Food was great in the nearby restaurants. We did try quite a few. The hotel provided tea / coffee / milk on request at reasonable cost.

The room was large with a balcony and great valley view although we had very cloudy views when we stayed.

We shifted here on our last day in Darjeeling. The room has a private balcony with a beautiful view of the mountains. The rooms are spacious and clean. The owner is a very nice guy who also owns a book shop on the mall. I would definitely recommend this place.
