Quite, smart and caring is what Rombu is. We have been visiting his den since 1995. Not much cahnge possibly because he is not too money minded. His momos are good and so are the stories. Best place to rest your weary legs if you are walking towards the HMI from the Chowrasta.

We stopped here as many do on our walk down to the zoo... It was raining and the owner lent us her umbrellas ( which we returned on our way back) beautiful people.....the mo mo dumplings and masala tea were a great way to break up a long walk in the rain with the kids.

While most of the good restaurants in Darjeeling are located near Chowrasta, this cosy and informal place is a little off-route, between Raj Bhawan and the Zoo. It's run by a couple who live right next to the restaurant. The ambience is great: it has Bob Marley and John Lennon on the wall, along with photos and drawings of travellers (you could also ask for the drawing book). It plays songs from the 70s and 80s, and sometimes new Nepali songs. In case you wish to enjoy just the murmur of leaves in all its quietness, the owners will immediately oblige. The place has a nice balcony overlooking Darjeeling town and beyond. The food (Tibetan cuisine) is one of the best in Darjeeling. Momos are excellent, thupkas freshly made (you could even ask for wheat thupka). Darjeeling tea is good. The owner lady also offers momo-making classes, which are possibly worth taking if you are staying a little longer than usual.

This is the ideal place after a long walk. Straight from mall road towards the temple and you will find this place half way to the zoo. The lady here was very sweet and a great conversationalist. Don't miss the egg shells on the trees and the huge Bob Marley collection and beatles music.

This place is awesome! I love it! I went there everyday that I was in Darjeeling after I found it. The service is great, the atmosphere is great. The owners are extremely friendly and fun. One of my favourite restaurants in the whole world! Try the veg momos and the beer! They have their own hot millet beer where they have the ingredients in a big mug and they pour hotwater onto it right there.
