It's a Must BUT it must be a clear day.
You will then see for miles and capture the best reflections of sunlight on the mountain range.
Make sue your driver rakes you to the top of the hill for the very vest views.

There is no question that the Tiger Hill experience is worth having, so if you are in the region, book it in. So, just to make a couple of suggestions to make it worth getting up in the morning (usually at 3.30am to get a 4am start in your vehicle to get there about 4.45am to get into position for the sunrise)... first of all, when you wake up, check if you can see stars. If not, might be a cloudy morning, maybe defer your trip if you have the option. When you get to the Tiger Hill parking and entrance booth, get out of the car at the bottom of the hill to avoid the chaos of a thousand Bengalis trying to park on the narrow road to the top. Walking is faster, and you'll have an easier time getting away at the end. Then, when you buy your tickets, don't bother with the indoors options in the building, its crammed, and you're looking through grubby small windows rather than seeing the full wide vista that is available outside. Go around the base of the building and look for an elevated spot that will give you a wide view. The sun rises on the right (as you are looking North) and will light up Kangchenjunga directly in front... this is the view you want. Then you have other mountains including Everest over to the left. Check out the posters for sale with the names of mountains if that is interesting for you. Everest is just a small peak in the far distance, but is definitely viewable. Enjoy the view, and know that there will be a communal experience, not a meditative one, at the Tiger Hill view point! :-)

We had gotten up at 4 in the morning to get ready to see the early morning dawn and have a glimpse of the beautiful himalayas from tiger hill. However we were very unlucky since that particular day, the sky was overcast so the sunlight was not able to penetrate down, so we missed the supposedly spectacular view of the himalayas.

Here one can get an amazing view of the sunrise and Kangchenjunga Mountains.Tiger hill can be seen from the huge building and one needs to buy a ticket to enter. There are 2 categories of tickets, the higher floor is more costly and gets full fast but it has the best view of the sunrise from there. One can see several points from the building, like the Nepal border, China border, Gangtok etc.

Just hope there is no mist else you wont be able to see anything as the mist covers the splendid view.

Tip: Here one needs to reach at least one hour before sunrise approx 4.30am as the road to the top is narrow with less parking space. Hence usually post 5 am the cars are parked on the narrow lane and hence your car will not be able to drive up and you would need to walk uphill.

Tiger Hills is the best location to see sunrise spreading so many colours over Kanchenjunga in such a short time. Not to be missed in Darjeeling visit!
