We stayed at this place in June 2012. When we normally think in terms of a govt maintained tourst lodge (or anything for that matter) a certain image comes to our mind (vis a vis) a pvt one. With this in mind we reached Kurseong. As we walked inside this small tourist lodge, the ideas started changing...by the time we reached our room, we had a completely different opinion. I wonder how many pvt hotels in a small place like Kurseong has so many good amenities in it. The rooms were splendid and offered an open view of the Kanchendzonga (it's a different thing that we were unlucky to not get to see it because of the bad weather). The room came with a small balcony, perfect for having the morning cup of tea while enjoying the sight of the rolling valley right below the balcony.
The staff were very helpful and courteous. The services were prompt (very prompt) and delivered with a smile (once again an exception).
The restaurant and bar is well stocked and the food is simply superb. The chicken roast that was served was excellent. The lodge is located within easy walking distance from the main town centre/railway station/taxi stand. Also this place has a fast food restaurant (separate from the main restaurant).
I would recommend this place to all the tourists who plan to halt at Kurseong. Book the rooms that come with the balcony (I think they cost 1500 per day) but its worth it. We halted at Kurseong because darjeeling was teeming with tourists and the hotel proces there were exorbitantly high. The stay made us discover more about Kurseong and we plan to return to this lodge sometime in the winter again.

Room Tip: Book the rooms that come with the balcony.

i have stayed many times there as my children study there, its a comfortable stay.the staff are friendly and caring, the rooms in one side have an verandah attached to it and its simply lovely sitting there in the evening watching the lights on the hills.the resturant is average but one must eat their chicken momos.its the best place to put up in kurseong town.
.

Room Tip: choose room with a view of the hills

I only went to tourist lodge for a meal as I was staying with a friend while in kurseong. Nothing great to talk about but nothing bad as well. There are hardly any options to eat while in kurseong you just have to choose between average and bad and this is the best bait. I did order momos a few times while in kurseong as take away and this was one thing I really enjoyed. The place in itself is located perfectly but then most of the things in kurseong are, its a small town. You can walk to most of the places. would rather recommend darjeeling for eating and staying. But if you are looking for quiet and peace then this is the place, even beter than darjeeling.

We came across many opinions about the Kurseong Tourist Lodge when we searched it on the web. Many complained about the service, pace and age of the waiters. Someone on honeymoon even complained about the thinness of the walls of the rooms and the snoring of the fellow guest in the next room! But still we decided to go ahead and took a chance with this lodge run by West Bengal Tourism. And we werent disappointed. The rooms were newly renovated. They offer super view of the mountains. The food served in the restaurant was awesome; specially the momos. They were heavenly! The "Old waiters" didn’t disappoint either. They were courteous and helpful. Just one suggestion for the lighting in the rooms which we informed the lodge staffs also, there should be some yellow lighting in the room. A yellow bulb gives a warm feeling to a wooden finished room. Hopefully when we go next, we get to see a warm light welcoming us inside the rooms.
Even though we didnt get to see the postcard like Kanchenjunga views, we were happy with what we got. We went in monsoon so we knew what to expect already. But the clouds played hide seek with the mountains providing much entertainment and some naughty cloud drifted inside our room also as if to tease us to play with them.

The tourist lodge at Kurseong lies on the Siliguri/Darjeeling road,
and the best part is that the toy train runs past the lodge!! So while
you enjoy your coffee in the restaurant you simultaneously enjoy the
beauty of the toy train trundling by.
The rooms are comfortable, but service is very poor and takes away
the joy of the stay. If that were to improve this place would be super!!
The quality of the food served in the restaurant is good.
