We Stayed in Hotel Retreat,Deluxe rooms in May,2012. Our stay was very Comfortable. We had a beautiful view of Kanchenjunga from our room itself. The hotel Staff, Anupam & Manager Mr Sarcar are very friendly and helpful. The Food served at the hotel is very tasty. The best part is that hotel is located at a walking distance from Chowrasta [10mins] so its easy to walk to the mall for shopping in the evening after sightseeing. I recommend everyone to stay at this hotel. There is no need to go to tiger Hill as this hotel offers the same view from your room itself....

The Retreat is beautifully located amidst blue pine forests and lush gardens exuding an ambience of peace and tranquility near Governer House on the Mall Road . All rooms had good ambience The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are neat & clean with hot & cold running water (and bath tubs in some). We stayed from 24-04-12 to 25-04-12 in room No. 421 whose location was excellent .The room had glass covered balcony with cane chairs & tea table from where we enjoyed breathtaking view of kanchenjunga & Himalayas in the morning during sunrise and at night the lighting of the city appeared so beautiful as if stars had come down from the sky for stroll .The above scenic view could be enjoyed even from the bed of the room . Food & room service was very good.Lounge and dinning hall bears an aesthetic sense as well as grandeur. For shopping, it is 10min walk to the local markets.
The staff is good and the manager D.P. Sarkar is friendly & very helpful all the time .He helped in making arrangements of vehicles for sightseeing & other places at reasonable cost.
Thanks Mr. Sarkar and your team.Looking forward to visit again.

We stayed in the Retreat during 25-04-12 to 27-04-12 and our stay was really comfortable. All rooms had good ambience. Our room particularly, 432 had a very good view of Kanchenjunga which is an unforgettable experience. We had some problems with bathroom doors which could neither be closed nor opened properly. Some problem with water supply also which was promptly addressed by Mr. Sarcar and his team. They made special arrangements for our food requirements like curd, etc. Food was good and room service very good. They even take care with supply of medicines when required. Thanks Mr. Sarcar and your team. Looking forward to visit again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of Kanchenjunga. NO need to rush to Tiger Hills in the midnight.

The Almost Miss Me entrance of The Retreat is definitely not the feeling that you carry back with you when you check out of this Warm & Efficient Place, so much like your own home. The most breathtaking view of the Kanchenjanga and the valley below and the chatter of school going children on Hermitage road makes this place truly a dream destination. The genuine warmth, cool efficiency of Mr Sarkar and his Team leaves you wanting to come back again and again to this Beautiful Locale.

Keep up the Good work Mr Sarkar.

Tucked away a step below near the Raj Bhawan as you take a bend to walk towards the Mall along the "Kanchanjungha view path" is this little surprise. You would perhaps not take The Retreat seriously until you stay there and gaze at the majestic Himalayas from your room. The location is their USP and I dare say that it is the best located hotel in Darjeeling as far as "Kanchanjungha views" are concerned . The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are clean with hot & cold running water (and bath tubs in some). There is glass covered balcony in two of the rooms with cane chairs and tea table from where you can have stunning views of the Himalayas. The view of the sunrise will also surprise you --- its so very beautiful that you will probably not miss Tiger Hill if you fail to go there. The staff is good and the manager D.P. Sarkar is friendly , helpful and efficient. Another plus point is the arrangement of return vehicles that this hotel does at reasonable cost. It would however be better if they can include the "heater hiring cost" to their tariff. the food was ok--- improvement is possible. Overall, a fine experience.

Room Tip: Room 411 is the best

I stayed in the hotel with my family for a week from 12th March'12 to 18th March'12. Excellent location, reasonably good rooms with great service from the members of the staff, very courteous, polite and always helpful lead by Mr. D.P. Sarkar the Manager of the hotel whose personal attention made my vacation really memorable. I have travelled to Darjeeling number of times and stayed in many good hotels but this time in Darjeeling I stayed in my home not a hotel. Thanks to Mr. sarkar and his staff members. C.K.Banerjee
