One of the best pan asian places in chennai.. am glad they opened this instead of the previous restaurant lemon grass.. first timers must try the stir fry set menu.. its a make it urself kind and is very tasty.. and is not very expensive as well.. they charge 799 plus tax for a person which includes sops salads starters main course and desserts. which is awesome !! Overall its a very calm healthy food kinda place and i highly recommend it for meat lovers.

This is one of the most popular (in a good way!) restaurants in Chennai. So lemme admit that I did have high expectations. And lets say I wasn't all that disappointed.

Lets begin with Ambience. Its beautiful. Not too bright, not too dark... just about right to make the menu contents visible and enhance the coziness quotient. The staff attend you right from the word go. Almost 3-4 people looked after us all through our dinner and I truly appreciate it. And No...I aint anyone famous! ;)

The food is mostly Oriental although you see them hold the "Chap Chay - Asian Stir Fry" tagline. The spread is extensive with some really authentic dishes. Our order began with a Mushroom and Potato Dimsum (Starter) followed by Sichuan Noodles with Chilly Bean Paste, Oriental Greens and Krapow Chicken (Main Course) and finished with a Fried Ice Cream with Walnut and Plum Sauce. We also went for Mocktail, Lychee Luau.

The dimsum was usual, nothing extraordinary in taste but good nonetheless. The Main course was pretty much the Hero of the Meal! All the three were delicious! The Greens were one of the best I have had in a long time. The ice-cream in the dessert part was a little over-fried but the sinful taste was intact..Thank God! :) The Mocktail was smashing as well!

Overall, a pretty nice experience with some fab food. But why pretty close (but not there) to Perfect?

The dimsums, ie, starter, took a tad too long to come and I was famished! So, they lost a few brownie points out thr! And its a bit on the expensive side as well. I have had some great Oriental cuisine by parting 30% less.

But I would strongly recommend CHAP CHAY.... Solace to the hungry tummy and peace for the mind :)

Meal for 2 (without alcohol) : INR 2300 (Veg); INR 3000 (Non-Veg).

Absolutely bowled over by this place. We were there last night for our anniversary dinner. The service was just phenomenal. The concept is unique and will definitely be a little difficult for the chennai folks to fall in love with it. If you are looking for Chilli Chicken or Ginger Chicken which is Traditionally the Chinese Fare for a Chennai Taste Bud, this is not your place.

If you are looking for some absolutely authentic Asian Cuisine, this is YOUR place. The options for the Sauce are wonderful and even if you are not very well versed with the menu, the staff there are too good and very helpful to offer assistance.

FULL Points to the Fried Ice Cream which was cooked to perfection. I just can't wait to go back here

The Cake with the firework was just wonderful and completed the beautiful evening.

To top it all is the pricing. The Buffet is a STEAL @699 + Taxes!!!!

There are some wok places and then there is Chap Chay. We went as an office dinner. Large group. Around 15 of us. Great food. Really great. I would say if you like to have a good meal, don't bother with the starters and just hit the food straight. If you want to have the starters, then don't complain that you couldn't eat enough of the food.

The staff are also fairly helpful and knowledgeable in that they know what the food is, what goes with what and most importantly, what doesn't. The place is a good option for both vegetarians and meat eaters as well. No one is going to feel left out.

After eating all the wok that you can, make sure you leave some room for dessert. Its really good.
