The location is great but that is about it. Our sheets were DIRTY and we had to wait 20 minutes to have them come change them.

I am not very picky but cleanliness is very important to me, and this hotel was not clean! Also, strong smell of septic tank (sewerage)? in our room.

Overall a cheesy hotel.

Excellent location in the center of Chennai. Spacious rooms. OK food. Friendly staff once you get to know them.
Hotel has a damp smell right from the entrance. Probably you cannot avoid it in Chennai. Smell is not so predominant in rooms.
Recommended for business travellers.

In the "Lonely Planet" India this hotel is described as "Fancy for the price" They obviously never stayed here.

This could be a good hotel - it wouldn't take too much to transform it - but as it is, it is a bad hotel. As you arrive you the first thing that greets you is the damp and musty smell, and the guestrooms smell even worse. And the dampness! I had to move rooms on my first night, because the first room was so damp, the second wasn't much better. The noisiest air-conditioning you have ever heard (it is effective though). The rooms are at least very clean. The same can't be said for the restaurants. Lots of dried food on the tablecloths (I asked one member of staff if they ever washed them - he said he could not recall that happening in two years!). The service was very variable - from the reception staff who were very good - to the restaurants where one of my colleagues waited 25 minutes for one piece of toast (after waiting 15 minutes for a cup for his coffee). I managed to spend nearly two hours one night waiting for a dozen pieces of chicken. Another evening there was a 30 minute wait for the bill.

"The Business centre" consists of two rather old computers in a corner of reception, and the internet connection is by cable only (and it obviously is often swamped by high demand).

As I said - this could be a good hotel - some fresh air, some work on the restaurants, some staff education - it wouldn't take much.
