Rooms are fairly spacious. very good location i.e. bang in the middle of mount road. Good value for rental paid
Reception is fairly good and ensured prompt check-in. Room service of food was also very good however concierge service was slow once. I was unwell and had to wait for 1 full hour and make two calls before a representative was sent to my room. When I blew my top, the hotel was really apologetic and the Chef responded well by sending me HOT RASAM RICE at his expense. This was a really good gesture

Even with the metro construction out front, you can't beat the location of the Marriott if you want to be in central Chennai. The rooms as good sized and well appointed with a bathtub. Basic wifi is included. The breakfast buffet has anything you could want from Western, Asian or South Indian breakfast.. Be sure to try the south Indian coffee. I had a lovely massage and pedicure in the spa. The gym is open 24/7. All the staff tries very hard to make you feel like they see you and are there to help you. The only thing missing is a swimming pool. Beware of the auto rickshaw drivers out front who will tell you they don't use meters; finally they are required to do so in Chennai and the fees are quite reasonable.

Room Tip: Most of the noise is out front so ask for a room in the back.

This is a good Marriott and meets all the usual standards you would expect. Executive rooms are large and comfortable with the usual amenities to hand and plenty of bottled water provided free daily, even if you have a stock in the fridge already! the staff are really helpful and very friendly as are the hotel drivers who will take you places and recommend alternatives. Check-in at 2am was more efficient than i had expected so top marks. The bar is a bit hidden but go into the Rhapsody restaurant and it is on the left.

Security is good.

The only draw back is the building work outside but this isn't the Marriott's fault and the metro works take up most of Chennai so you will be lucky to escape them wherever you go.

Room Tip: You want to be away from rooms at the front whilst the build the Metro. Executive lounge is on 10.

Despite the metro road-work, it isn't very hard to move in and out of this hotel. It retains a great location, and that more than makes up for the traffic disruption over the next few months (years?). Contrary to my expectations, it is totally in tune with the 'Marriott' brand and makes for a great stay. The only reason I haven't rated it 5/5 is because the rooms are a little old, and it shows in some of the older technology used (door entry, air conditioning, shower mixer). Bit of renovation would help; but the rooms themselves are very comfortable, clean, and good looking.

The only other thing you wish they'd do is hire few more people. Just because it is India, doesn't mean it has to show ultra-low operations costs! The staff is so nice, always smiling, always trying very hard. But you can see how overworked they are; we saw the same set of people at all times of the day. Sometimes the fatigue showed in their eyes, sometimes in their crumpled uniforms. Even the dog who sniffs cars for security seemed very tired. Or was I just imagining it?

In every facet of our stay, the Marriott excellence shone through. Right from prompt check-in and check-out, to the beautiful rooms, sufficient internet speeds and good selection of TV channels, to very prompt valet service and a royal breakfast spread. Everything was done with a smile, and genuine service attitude. Almost every place, whether the lounge or the restaurant or the front desk, had staff willing to make small talk--- asking about our journey, interested in how we spent the evening, and so on. Some may think it was intrusive, but we thought it made the stay more pleasant and human. Different from the Marriotts in US. Keep it up, please!

The prices are also very reasonable, almost the same as a good local brand (Savera or Ginger). Literally 10 minutes from the US embassy and the US OFC, it's a great stop for visa work. Overall, a great value for money hotel combining high-end pampering with efficient business-hotel amenities.

I carefully considered all the other high end hotels in Chennai before selecting this note. It was a perfect place to spend 3 nights because of the staff, the quality of the rooms and the location. There is construction in front of the hotel (new subway) but I never heard any of the noise and a large water wall outside the entrance even hides the view of the machines. Check in was perfect and as a gold Marriott member I was double upgraded to a room on 8 which was large, clean and in perfect working condition. The bed was good but quality of linens not up to the "heavenly bed" standards but still acceptable. Got free wifi which worked very well every minute and allowed multiple devices to be connected. Free wifi is (I think) available to all members of Marriott Rewards. Lobby and public places also had free wifi.
Took a rickshaw to the beach for less that $150 and back for slightly over a dollar. Staff was always willing to give directions and advise. Location seemed central to various sights I wanted to see. No pool but a great Spa and adequate gym. Buffet breakfast was very good and the staff and snacks on Club level floor very high end. My room was about $100 per night after the 18 percent taxes are added to the rate and I felt that was a very good price for this quality hotel.

Room Tip: Try to get an upgrade to a room that allows access to the 10th floor lounge. I was told by a Scotch...

I stayed for a couple of nights during a business trip. The hotel's pickup service from the airport was prompt and efficient. I even used the driver for sightseeing the next day (the hotel's rates for hiring a car and driver are very reasonable). Even though I was checking in at 2am, check-in was efficient.

The hotel is in a great location in central Chennai. The only drawback is that they are constructing the subway (metro) just in front of the hotel. There wasn't any noise in my room (even though they work 24 hours a day) but it made it difficult to walk in or out of the hotel after it had rained (large mud puddles). There is a decent sized mall a few minutes walk down the road (out the hotel, go right and cross the road, it is by the Hyatt).

The room was quite large, very clean and nicely furnished. The bathroom was quite large with a large sink, toilet and a bathtub with a shower.

I ate breakfast and lunch at the ground floor Paprika restuarant. Good service, reasonable prices, and good and tasty choices.

The executive lounge was fine for drinks (although the Puducherry red wine that I tasted was horrendous! I stuck with beer). The food selections were pretty limited and not very inviting.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the main street, Ana Salai where the metro construction is.

First things first! Check in was in a jiffy. Right from the moment I entered the lobby, I saw smiling faces, welcoming receptionists! Very friendly, helpful and ready to do everything to make you feel at home. I was given a complimentary upgrade. The bed was large and mattress quality was very good. But the room had a dated appearance and due for renovation soon.On the first day, room service was slow, but I was asked for my feedback next evening and as a result the room service improved the second day. I was impressed. The breakfast spread had large variety and everything, that I tried, tasted perfect. Their Coffee was something to die for!!
