We were quite disappointed with this one. We are anti-stereotype hotel travelers. We prefer homely guesthouse/hostel suited for backpackers. Good thing Chennai was our last stop. The room was too basic and run down. The air-conditioner even have a home made wooden swing that is impossible to adjust the angle. The bellboys would start carrying your bags even without permission and expects a tip right away. We had no cash in handy that time (we arrived midnight) and once the bellboys knew our situation they looked at us with a grin. we were so offended. You think that's all? I so mad i was about to snap when i learned that the wi-fi was NOT free. I emailed them if they have wifi and they said yes(my bad not asking them if it was free, i just assumed). If i was informed that the wifi costs 250 rs. for 109 minutes (thats 2.29 rupees per minute) what a rip-off, i should have gone running away from this place.

anything good about this place? well, they accept credit card and the hotel compound was spacious. That's it

After travelling for 3 weeks through the south of India we ended our trip at the New Woodlands Hotel.
Since we were only going to stay there for a short while before we got on our flight back we didn't want to spent too much money.

We were not disappointed by the New Woodlands.
The rooms are basic, but ok. Nothing special, but the price/quality was one of the better during our trip.
We booked an airport transfer with them and were surprised to be waken up early by the staff to help us carry our bags to the taxi.

The on site restaurant is fine and the rooftop restaurant of the neighbouring hotel is also recommended.

Has a nice resturant a very nice green campus and close to Cennai central........ Rooms and furnitures are bit old but well maintained.

Nice spacious rooms with balcony as well..........

The New Woodlands is a big resort-like complex, with many rooms, restaurants, beauty salon, wedding halls, etc. It has an in-house travel office, and they can arrange for transportation.

Very efficient and professional service, and the rooms are clean. On the downside, the place is rather noisy due to the proximity of the wedding halls (expect lots of noise at night if you travel during wedding season, as we did...) The staff thoughtfully gave us a recessed room at the far end of the compound, but even there it was quite noisy. And the worst of all: there is a deafeningly loud power generator right in front of the hotel: upon arrival, we had to shout to make us understood by the taxi driver... Tiresome, and a rather bad welcome!

I was here for my visit to US consulate. This is a neat place to stay for few days. Rooms are simple and spacious but not great. Since the hotel is not too expensive I feel it is a value for money. I did not have much expectations so was not disappointed.

Compared to my other stay in Chennai this was the best. IF you are willing to spend more there are better luxury hotels in Chennai. This hotel served my needs.
