A nice hotel reminding the olden day cottages, but equipped with all ameneties. Located on Radhakrishna Salai, its juat a forlong away from the US Consulate and Mount Road.
The Cottages here are placed among the trees and the one I stayed had a small beautiful Temple infront of it. The car can be parked adjacent to the cottage.
There are two nice vegetarian restaurants in the hotel. The rooms are air-conditioned. The room service is good and ofcourse the food. Everything is present in the room including an electronic safe, a fridge, a TV, a nice sofa set, A king size bed, Hair drier, Kettle for making tea.
Its economical too. The rent for a day is 2500 INR. Only problem it 12 Noon checkout.

We spent a week there, here are some suggestions:
the standard rooms are very basic ( if you are a western visitor it means one star) decent but not very comfortable. The linen are thin but clean, the bathroom was a little dirty and the shower was just a pipe in the cealing (don't forget a pair of slippers!!!).Then we upgrade for a deluxe room wich was a little expensive (R 2300, about € 33) but much more comfortable, clean, with good linen and towels, ac, fan and a fridge. The restaurants in the building are both very nice and the room service is just few rupies more than the restaurant's menu. If you forgot the soap at home or you're tired of south indian breakfast and willing for cookies, there is a little shop in the compound (that opens at 6.30 am) where you can buy what you need. There is also a swimming pool open from 9am to 6pm for a R70 usually full of kids, and a coffee corner where for just R10 you can have a nice sweet and milky coffee. WiFi is available with prepaid cards at the reception, R100 for about half an hour. Let's say nothing special but ok.

I went to the New Woodlands hotel in Chennai for a meal as it's restaurant is very famous for its vegetarian food. While the food is good, there are other restaurants in Chennai that serve better food. However, the manager and most of the staff are so rude, that I really wonder if it is worth going again. They are very famous and most visitors to Chennai nee Madras will definitely visit them. However, is such rudeness worth it?

Ive stayed here many times in the past on business and was always satisfied. This time I reserved my room a week in advance but when I reached in the morning was told that the room was not ready, so I went for my first business meeting returning around 1pm. Again the room was not ready so I went for the second meeting, returning around 7pm. This time I was made to wait half an hour then given a filthy room that had not been cleaned from the previous occupant. When I protested, the reception said please wait another half hour. I was tired and disgusted at being treated in this shoddy manner, especially as I was a frequent guest. I demanded my deposit back which they initially refused then returned after I threatened to file a case against them. I then walked into Hotel Savera next door where I was treated like royalty. New Woodlands has lost a regular customer for good.

I stayed twice there in the autumn of 2006. The first time - due to overbooking - they offered me only a standard room (non-a/c), which was ok for one night, but not more.

When I returned after three weeks, I had a executive room, which was very good.

The only minus is that the Hotel does not have a taxi service itself. A private business man runs a taxi rent there, but it's quite costy. And if you try to stop a motor rikshaw or a taxi outside, they also ask quite a high price from you.

Warning! Don’t even think about New Woodlands hotel in Delhi: Overcharging for rooms of bad quality with stone hard beds, ants on the floor, malfunctioning shower and TV. Breakfast is poor and customer service is rude. On top of that the manager wanted us to pay in advance. I travel all over the world and this is one of my worst hotel experiences.

I have just come back from the New Woodlands Hotel.
Unlike some of the other reviews I enjoyed the hotel.
The rooms a clean the restaurants was great.

Some people have said the staff are rude. But you would be surpised what a smile and a hello can do.
This hotel caters to Indian guests. So if you expect things just things to be just like north american or european hotels it might not be the place for you. But if you want an real Indian experience then it might be the place for you
marina beach is about a 25 min walk
citi centre mall about 20 min walk
spencers plaza about 45 min walk
there are several atms near by
also a super market half block away
iwave inter cafe about 10 min walk
I plan on going back next October
