“Too good for words”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

Every review of mine generally goes over the good and not-so good aspects of a dining experience. But how do I rate Chao... excellent. This was my first experience here and I did not find them lacking in any department. Great ambience - warm, inviting and luxurious at the same time. Appeals to your aesthetic sense. Comfortable seating. And very warm staff, cordial and pleasant. Now the food - they have an extensive menu, you have a hard time deciding what you want to order. And they serve you endless cups of fragrant lemon grass tea (on the house) while you mull over the options. Everything we had was superb!!! The tom yum soup hit the right note; the green mango salad was out of the world. We had jasmine rice (fragrant and oh-so appealing) with thai green curry (chicken) and Devil's fish; and everything was yummy. You just know they have used the real spices and all fresh too - the tastes and aromas vouch for that. To finish we had pumpkin custard with coconut icecream - and it was delightful. The service was really good and fast. Though the fare is a little pricey, you don't feel bad or cheated when you sign the cheque. The food is value for money and heavenly.

“Excellant Candle Light Dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2013

We went for the Valentine's dinner and had a great time. Excellant interiors and candle light arrangement was present. We had a three course meals consisting of Thai, Chinese, Singapore and vietamese food. All the menu items as made to perfection. Both of us liked the fish and chicken portions. Value for money and I would strongly suggest for someone looking for change.

“Food.... Just RIGHT!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2013 via mobile

The first thing you wil notice at Chao will be the ambience. It's serene and inviting. We had a prior reservation and were seated immediately. They have an extensive non-veg menu but since we stuck to vegetarian palette, the options were a tad limited. Nevertheless, good enough to have a plate full of goodies :) The Tom Yum soup was... yum! We ordered some spring rolls and flat noodles ( which they call Kwey Mao) and I must say, they were cooked just right. My mom, who isn't a big fan of spice, really relished the preparation. And we finished our meal with one portion of fried ice cream and it was HEAVENLY!! They served 6 scoops in one portion and although I was all done, I hogged on three scoops! The members of the serving team were attentive and cleared our plates as soon as we finished the starter and replaced with fresh plates. They kept checking at intervals whether the food was upto our expectaions. They are also very patient with the my queries about the sauces. Their recommendation was well taken. Wl surely be returning.... Had a lovely time. A Veg Meal for 2: INR 1000; A Non-veg Meal for 2: INR 1500.

“Chao Thai Grilled Fish - Absolutely Thai, Absolutely Delish!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2013 via mobile

'Twas a rainy afternoon and we wer'nt too very hungry but felt a light broth hot soup was enough to hit the spot.

Service - Reservations were handled politely, and the captain was helpful with our lunch selection. The one factor they really need to improve upon would be the rest of the staff - the waitors, handlers/ helpers with their communication skills. If they get that right - their service would be efficiently faster - and Then the Restaurant would set the benchmark for Pan Asian Cusine in Chennai.

Decor & Ambience - 'Obviously' Pan Asian Contemporary. Well maintained spaces. Perfect for a Date Night with the hubby as well as a party group in their basement space.

Food - Their 'Chao Thai Grilled Fish' was gorgeous - i LOVED the way the skewered basa fish was delicately handled; spicy, sour, bitter, salty and sweet - Absolutely Thai, Absolutely Delish. We had Spicy thai rice and a basil chicken curry of sorts *forgot the name* 'twas Yum. We ended with a 'Tub Tim Grob' - that was delicately Divine.

Value - I have one philosophy - u give peanuts u get monkeys. 'Chao' delivers on every front - giving you value for money.

... I Jus blame our senses that tricked us into eating a lil bit more than..........Soup *wicked grin*

Chao!

“Excellent CHinese food!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2012

Excellent food!!! Kids had satay chicken which they really enjoyed. We had the veg dim sums which were great too. Kway Teow & noodles were great too. Try their Tub Tim Grob (water chestnuts in coconut milk) & the Pumpkin Custard - they're both absolutely delicious....
